Re: Whats the story with my Goblin 420.
The story gets worse. My friend spotted a crack in the boom. On closer inspection, there are four hairline cracks along the boom, and one has had superglue put in it!!! As it was in the black painted area, it was hard to see, until in the sunlight. I have sent pictures to the shop owner, and he acc...

Re: Soco heli tool
Tedious. Nothing more really to say beyond that. LOL. I had one I tried to force myself to use it. I tried to convince myself it was better. I found myself always grabbing my data logger. It's clunky, its cumbersome, and arguably no better than a normal pitch gauge if you know what you are doing. I...

They are easy to work with. I received 1 bad servo out of 4 that I ordered. They were easy to work with and no hassle getting it returned and swapped out.

Who buys something like that 2% of the already small rc hobby world? Maybe they just don't get the quantities required to drive down parts costs?

Re: possible new heli for me
I am not familiar with the protos but I do have the dominator. Bare bones dominator is worth < $200 on the used market. I think I paid $250 with electronics and spare parts for mine. The Align is expensive to crash. I like mine but I have more parts for it then my hobby store does. A typical crash w...

There is also this guy http://www.bigredbee.com who makes locating beacons. He does this as a side buisness. I work with him in the real world. He is into rockets and they need to be located after launch.

Re: Quad lost forever
Hopefully this link will work, you will need satellite view on maps... The boxed area on the map is some kind of enclosure for sheep... The spare ground beside there is where I parked the car... Following that road up the map is where the quad is... Not sure if it's on the left or right side of tha...

Re: Quad lost forever
i cant fly them anyway, so time to change my hobby... Sucks you lost you quad I almost lost a heli once. It got far enough out I could not tell if it was coming or going. Question: What do you find difficult about flying quads? I don't know your specific setup so I don't know what you had. I have t...

Re: Spirit FBL
Better be something special to be a knick off at that price. Compared to a bd3sx which was $500, $250 is kind of cheap. They supposedly have a similar rescue feature as the 3sx. Now that the bd3sx has dropped in price the real thing is more cost competitive. If you haven't had a real rescue FBL con...

Re: Spirit FBL
My understanding is its a knock off Bavarian Demon. Supposedly it is even licensed which is why the BD has come down in price. From what I have read they are difficult to obtain and support isn't fully their but people who have them tend to like them. YMMV Price is in the $250 range I believe. They ...

Re: HV servos for a 500
I've heard the power leads going into the CC BEC is also an issue. They surface mounted the wires instead of through hole. Which makes them sensitive to any kind of strain or vibration. Eventually the solder joint fails and down it goes. I also just don't like the lack of a well thought out protecti...

Re: HV servos for a 500
Yea even Yugo's makes it up and down the street. Most people who run the BEC pro run them at 6S max. YMMV but I won't run them on anything bigger than a 500. I've heard/seen a few of them come apart where the wires connect to the circuit board. Supposedly fixed in the v2 but you still hear reports i...

Re: HV servos for a 500
One down side of an internal BEC is that you have potential to pass full voltage to your electrical system. I am sure sure there is something similar when a cell dies. I am thinking in the same lines as when a PSU dies in a multiple PSU setup in a charging solution. Any "good" BEC has a c...

I appreciate all your comments, guys! Thank you very much! Clay...I have a buddy that flies ONLY MKS servos on his Goblins (6 in total) and he talks very highly about them. I was asking about HV servos for a 500 class helicopter because I am starting to get the parts and pieces for my 2015 Project ...

Re: Trex 500L build
I went back to the 500mx because I could not get to 2900 rpms with the KDE motor. Also it was really nose heavy and I dont know how I would move things around to get things to balance. Maybe one day I will try again. The KDE motor is 100 grams more than the 500mx. I want to fly it at 2900 rpms and s...

Re: Trex 500L build
Thats cool:) with frame flex and vibration it will be interesting to see if the clearance is ok the picture looks as if it is touching:) They sell these ESCs for planes too. 5A BEC is probably pretty good on one of them. Rare to have high demand from 3 or more servos at a time in those. Yup agreed....

Re: Anyone seen more 500L Dominator parts yet?
There are very few parts that are different between the 500L and the dfc pro. Which is why you don't see a ton of parts on a lot of sites for the 500L. You can just select dfc pro and find your parts.
