Hobby King Swamp Dawg

I picked this up hoping my wife may enjoy running it about. It may also work for a rescue craft to push one in that has a problem. We'll see. I ran it for a while then handed the transmitter to Derek so I could shoot some video. So, technically, this isn't the maiden run...but near enough. For a craft this size it was really too windy to run easily and control well. The wind kept fighting the steering.
Enjoy anyways...

That's pretty neat. Looks like the boat ran fine with the wind. I'll bet with no wind she should be a blast.

Yeah, the Swamp Dawg did pretty well, despite the wind. It seemed to struggle making right hand turns but that may have been the wind causing troubles. It was fun to run around the pond. What's funny though is that Dad cut out the part of the video when the Swamp Dawg flipped over, lol. I was running it around and I'm assuming it caught a rogue wave and the wind got under it and....flip. Bummer! Dad got the boat home and put all the electronics into rice for a while....now, all is well and the boat is ready to run again.

In actuality, when you hear Derek say in the video that he was waiting for the wind to lighten up...the camera was turned off so there was no footage of the flip. I believe it was caused mostly by the boat lifting from the water by the wind and the torque of the motor simply rotating the boat. But without the video...we will never know. We only know it will be calmer next time. Derek and I both had a pretty good run.

Second time out with the Hobby King Swamp Dawg. The wind was much lighter...but still there. I got a good 8 minute run at mostly 3/4 throttle for this video on a 800mAh 2 cell Lipo. They recommend a 1000mAh. Then I ran it on a 1300mAh and got nearly 20 minutes. I had no camera person so the camera sat on a tripod at the water's edge.

I tried to trim the video down to something that was interesting...and not boring.

Looks like you had a calm, peaceful fun time. Thanks for the video. Where's that boy when you need him!

The boy was at home...dealing with a few difficulties....all better now.
That was a great run, Dad! Much smoother water.

Today, being my 63rd birthday, started out with very little wind so my wife and I headed out rather early to a nearby pond with four fully charged batteries and my Swamp Dawg. She ran it for a while on the first battery then handed it back to me. She is just as content to watch. Here is part of her run. All in all, we were out for a good hour.

Thanks all for the birthday greetings. Next up is a Point of View video from roughly the passenger seat of the HobbyKing Swamp Dawg. Not bad for a $30.00 water-proof action camera. Very little breeze and the sun was very LOW as you can tell as I turn into it but it was quite early in the morning. I made a simple mount out of a small piece of .030" aluminum and four rubber bands. I was afraid the camera lens was too low but actually came out quite nice in my opinion. At least you see the nose of the boat.

I ran off this video with a .800mAh 2 cell then ran out a 1.3mAh battery as well.
