Picked this bird up from a buddy of mine. He's mainly a heli guy but got this used and never did anything with it and turn me on to it. It's an Aero Works Yak 54.. Seen a little action if u will.. Came with character! Couple blemishes.. Missing the wheel pants & the filler piece that fits over the gear base/mount. No biggie.. It has a DLE30 in it. Hitec's all the way round except for the throttle servo.. Futaba for that. Spektrum rx & sat.. DSM2. Now he had 2 NMHi packs, one for the igniter and one for the electronics. Upon a preliminary test I found that they didn't cut it... Bang the sticks around and surfaces would lag behind others.. So.. Another local was getting rid of some Smart Fly gear.. So I scooped up a Sport Reg, Balancer, & a fiber optic CutOff(all for $70.. Never used)... So that was good especially since I was gonna get a cutoff anyway.. Saftey dictated the need for that item. I've picked up a new prop & drill guide as well. All that's left now is to get some LiPos for the reg.. It's a dual so it'll use 2... And another pack for the ignition. Up in the air on that one.. Prolly use a LiFe pack for it due to the low voltage requirement.

So there isn't really a lot of work to do installing the electronics.. Just gotta do it.. Get the packs.. New plug.. Possibly a new panel/switch set.. Be awhile before she's ready as I've got a heli project going as well.. But it's a start.. Large plane.. I'm excited.

Thanks.. Can't wait. It's definitely new territory for me.. 1st gas plane.. 1st big plane.. 1st 3D/stunt plane.. Pretty much a warbird guy.. But couldn't pass this up when I was presented w it.

Doubt it Dan... If this goes as planed... I'm gonna get these electronics installed and get her working right.. Cut my teeth on her.. And later (prolly much later) tear everything out and put in an Edge or Extra kit... Possibly a warbird.. as I'd like to do a fresh build on my own from the start. The 3D/stunt planks are new to me so well see how it goes... Doubt I get anywhere till after X-mas.. But I'm ready to fly it!

You will love it once you get her doing some tables and spins you'll be addicted. At the moment I'm enjoying 3d planes more than I ever did helis. I'm not giving up on helis just having so much fun with the edge at the moment, and with things the way they are at the moment I can only take one to the field with me so I have to choose, it could just be that planks are a new thing.

Ok.. So I went to the field today with my nitro & my P-47... Had an itch for some relaxing plank action & wanted to practice something with the heli as well. Got there and it was a camp site/car park... LAME! There is a BBQ fest at the park ALL DAMN weekend... No room for planes, small area for the HELI.. so I did get the N5C up for 2 tanks before kids & adults swarmed me & the flight area... Wow.. How that fly upside down.. I want a turn.. Can I fly.. I deamed it unsafe & packed up.. Got home and started eye ball'n this... Had it since November & yet to put her in the air.. Determination has set in.. It will be maiden'd within the next few weeks!

Lot of effort buddy for this bird, and wish you all the best with your flying! I recently bought Yak55 Aerobatic from
http://www.thehobbyworx.com/rc-planes/g ... plane.html priced $99.98. I was really surprised at how look great it is. It has light weight at only 180g but with a high power brushless motor allowing it to perform any aerial trick you can imagine. The plane can be flown in sports halls and other large indoor spaces as well. It is capable of looping in knife flight, 90-degree turning and all aerobatic maneuvers. All the parts are pre-cut but it requires some easy final assembly before use. I'm really enjoying the plane at the moment and will try to capture some flying moments which I can share.
