I left everything stock length. I ran esc motor side wires out the front and the battery side wired out the bottom left side (looking nose on). Made the y harness sized so I could run the cable bundle up and over the front pack and velcro it to the top and plug the batteries in easy.

Way different layout than yours though. Esc goes in a tray below the batteries toward nose of heli.

Battery trays came today. The E7SE doesn't come with one... Stock utilizes the strap & hook'n'loop method. I wanted a tray.. Once again Ralph's Flybarless Rotors had a great product for this situation... Trays that lock in the stock bottom plate with only one small add on. I'll rig it up and post some shots later... Love'n it!

Got the tray together... It requires 2 holes to be drilled in the bottom plate to mount the clip. The clip has inserts molded that go inside the strap cuts of the bottom plate...so that gives 4 positions of mounting for the clip... I did add a small... Small amount of epoxy for added security.. Overkill, but I did anyway. I put some 6s packs on the tray for a preliminary fitting... The plan is to use a 12s stick pack. I think I will be continuing the use of an RX pack.. So I played with it as well. I like it! Beats the hell outta play'n with straps every go round! I bought 2 trays to get me goin.. Gotta fit the 3M on the other one to match this one. Ordering cyclic servos next week.. Slow going, but I kinda like it this way... Allows for thoughtful build time.

I weighed the machine with everything I have in it... I got the servo & iKon weight and added it all up... I'm look'n at around 10.5-11lbs all up weight without blades.... How's that in comparison to those of u with a 700 machine? I was think'n I'd be a pig.. But I believe I'm about on par??????

Aren't you going to have to screw around with the strap to keep moving the Rx pack around with it bundled in the stick pack like that? Or are you planning to do a separate mount point for that?

As for weight. I've never weighed any of my helis. I'll break the scale out and throw a few on to see what comes up.

Good question Paul. I have 4 3600mah RX packs... 2 for the N5C & 2 for the 550PRO DFC... So I may grab 2 more as I plan to keep 2 sets of flight packs at a minimum... The RX packs aren't that expensive & id never remove them from the tray. However, if I share my current inventory, I'll have plenty and will only need to mess with 1 strap. Notice the hook'n'loop on the side of packs on the photo of me holding the tray up... On the 550PRO DFC, that's where I mount the RX pack.... I'll use the same method except on top... I'm confident the hook'n'loop between the main & RX along with one strap will be quick, easy, & secure.

Lol.. I don't kno... I'm try'n to get her done by the Heli Extravaganza... Which the last weekend of September. I've got what surely adds up to another $1000 if I get new stick packs and do not use the 6s packs I already have for the 550. House projects here I'm in the middle of is making it difficult too. Plus we have a new department Supervisor that has cut the bulk of my overtime... Overtime has got me to this point somewhat comfortably. To be honest tho.. I had been work'n way too much.. Kill' myself.. Feel'n beat down & tired all the time.. Very unusual for me as I am described to be a "crack head" cause I'm always balls to wall & roll'n at everything I do. I haven't even really skated in 2+ months. Guess I kinda needed to slow down a bit. So I'm hoping by the end of next month.

In anticipation of the remaining parts... main blades, servos, & iKon... I decided to pull the starboard frame (mounting as much as possible to port side for ease of maintenance) and begin the routing game plan. I did cut a strip of carbon fiber to finish the hard mount of the ESC.. The tray has a curved edge that only allowed the bottom of the ESCs bolt holes to be used... I made the strip from an old busted 450 frame & ran it across the bottom of the tray.. Pleased with the turn out. Made 1 loop of the motor wires and it's a clean fit. I use the "quick connect" for all my Castle ESCs... This allows me to plug into an alternate lead for programming and not having to remove the main lead plugged into the throttle port. Very convenient & keeps wear down. I am also figuring out wher to put the gov cable.. I still need to remove the black & red leads from the harness as the signal lead is the only one needed.. It's a start.. Still gotta sleeve the wires, but I'll wait till I get the rest of the electronics next week to ensure this the way I want to run it.
