Building a gimbal

Well I'm going to try anyway!

Have my motors from Hobbyking, they are 1807 340kw, 22mm diameter and about 1cm tall, and 20 grams

Waiting on some sheet Ally 1.5mm for the arms and mount,

And waiting for a gimbal controller (Alexmos Mini 8bit 2 axis) from Good Luck Buy.

this is going to be a front mount gimbal for use with my Mobius.

Will you have to counter balance that Kev with something on the rear end. And will your TX control the servos... Interesting project

No servos Tony just motors and a controller,

The battery will counter it and I want a slightly bigger battery anyway, so I think I will be adding about 100grams altogether maybe 125g

Sounds good, so the motors will keep it level then. 125 grams not to bad then..

I will watch this thread with interest as this is something I have been thinking about for a while now.
Don't you need sensors also to tell the gimbal controller where the motors are?

Well I have had five mins to play with this and here is my simple mock up, balanced reasonably well, so hopefully when I get the controller it will be ok.

Need to get the frame mount done next and get hold of some Trex 450 frame screws to fix it all,

Spec looks quite capable of handling those motors Kev, with 3 axis sensor it should be pretty stable...

I just bit the bullet and ordered a gimbal from Banggood.

Time will tell as to how good it is.
I started pricing controllers and motors and found this was cheaper and it had everything.
I don't expect it to be perfect at that price but it has to be better than anything I can build.
And if I don't like it, I can build a more simple tilt only version with the parts.
