Well, as I noted in another thread.. I nab'd a used Chase 360 of a buddy for practically nut'n.. Several issue that life throws hit me the past couple weeks and I haven't got to it.. Tonight I started tho. Complete break down and cleaning in progress. I like the kit.. Seems to be good quality.. Machine work is good.. Carbon fiber looks good.. Triple belt design.. Never had a belt heli before (I did try to tail belt a Blade SR, didn't work so well) on a 3D machine. I order serval back up parts and a few replacement items that I just thought I should like the spindle & main shaft.. Belts, bag of bolts for the entire kit, etc.. Parts are cheap! I am gonna have to place another order for the battery tray clip.. I striped the head of one of the screws... Sucks! Anyhow, all in all.. Looks good.. so.. Here is the break down.. Chase 360, stock Scorpion 6S motor, Castle Edge 50 Lite, MKS 92A+ cyclic, MKS 95i tail, Mikado MiniVBar, Spektrum DSMX sat, Align 360 mains & Lynx 68 tails, Pulse 1250 45C 6S. Pretty excited.. The motor is the only thing I'm waiting on still(& the tray clip I striped).. Should have been here today.. On with the cleaning!

Your bench doesn't look like a disaster area, more like a men @ work area!

The most fun U'll ever have with a helicopter! Lol.. Worst part about a little bird.. Wrench'n on them sucks! Had these servos in a drawer w stripped gears for a few years.. So to put them in the Chase.. Gotta put new gears in them... Got several sets of spare gears.. Same servos in my Align 450.

Battery trays done.. I ordered an additional 3 so that all 4 packs will have a tray... I can just pop them in & out now to charge & load.. Won't have to remove the packs from the tray.

HOLY COW! I did it! So while I was break'n her down, I stripped a button head screw. It was one of two screws that mount the battery tray latch... 2mm x 4 I think.. Stripped it.. So I tried the usual.. Dremel cut wheel making it a flat head screw.. But that didn't work.. Just stripped the flat head too... So I grab the drill, us a bit that is a tad larger than the shank of the screw and drill into the center of the screw head(now mangled) until it gets through to the bottom side of the head.. At this point the head of the screw is like stick'n ur finger in a doughnut hole.. The head will ride up the drill bit leaving the shank of the screw flush with the outside of the frame.... Pull the latch on the other side of the frame off with the remains of the screw still threading into the latch.. But now u have the width of the cf frame (2mm) to work with. Well.. It's small! So.. Needle nose pliers to grab that 2mm nub and back out the screw.. Nope.. I just rounded off the threads and made it look like a splinter... All that was last night.. But today I tried my small vise grip pliers and played with it even more... Took 45min, but I got it! Yeeeaaaay!

Did you add any heat to it to help it come out

I hate when that happens.
I stick a soldering iron on the end of the screw for a good few minutes.
It makes all the difference. I have had stripped screws that after a good bit of heat, has come out super easily.

That's what I did... But it had already stripped.. Possible it was that way before I got it.. But yeah.. Button heads suck.. Especially small ones!

Alright.. Going thru the steps in the manual.. We have the main shaft w gears, all blocks, etc attached to one frame side. The long red frame brace doesn't come with the kit.. I noticed it online and figured it could only help.. So it's on.. There are a few bolts that I put the colored washers on that the manual doesn't call for.. Nor the silver ones.. Had to add my bit of flavor. Speaking of the hardware. When the kit (used) came to me, I noticed rust on the bolt heads.. So I ordered the KDS bag'o'bolts to replace all the hardware during the rebuild. Well.. The new hardware has rust on them as well.. Minimal surface rust.. But to one a picky as I am.. A disappointment to say the least.. But.. That's the only complaint I have with the kit thus far.

Tail servo mount has two options.. 1) rear mount as most are. 2) front mount. Gonna try this front mount. Using the front mount gives u more room for larger packs... Which I like the idea of maybe.. Doing so does require a micro servo.. Which I am using so we'll see how this turns out.

Change of plans... I had ordered the stock Scorpion motor that comes in the kit.. Found out today why it wasn't here.. Back order. So.. Going with my favorite.. KDE!
