With my 7yo showing an interest in FPV already I have decided to build him a proper quad.
At the moment I have a V959 with micro FPV gear on it and the brief flight he had he loved it.
I have 2 of these coming from Hobbyking

I have a friend that has finally destroyed one of these frames but only after multiple high speed crashes so as a beginner quad for Jacob it should be fine.
I already have motors, ESCs a Naze, Tx and Rx some 3s batteries and a complete video system.
With the Dominators already shipped from Banggood I guess the Predators will become his.
He does not yet know so it will be quite a surprise for him.
I can see some father son FPV races in our future.

Very nice, are you going to do the build together?
May be a future world champion in the making.

Depends when the frames arrive, I only have him every second weekend so I may just surprise him with it.
Dunno about world champ but it probably won't be too long before he gives me a bit of competition.

We got Jacobs quad built and tuned pretty close.
He has managed some LOS flying but sorry, no video.
I hooked up the 9x to my Taranis so he could fly buddy boxed and he was quite nervous as he knew this was more expensive than some of the toys he has been flying.
He worked out really quickly how to say take it Dad and wouldn't you believe it "Dad" was the first one to crash it.
I was able to show him first hand how tough these are, one new prop and away it goes again.
I am looking forward to our next weekend together.

Hey there Stambo. Glad that you and your son can enjoy this hobby together. Now a days you don't see to many father/son relationship. Maybe only in my social economic bracket. Hope he's hooked like danhamson mention. Enjoy!

I hope so, but I won't push it.
I only have him every second weekend so if he wants to do something else we go do it.
I try to make our time together quality time for both of us.
He loves ground pounders, any chance he gets to run my car he does.
We put tape on the tyres last time and he was drifting it all over the place.
