Ken's 130x Upgrades

I know I should have given up on this bird a while ago but it is so much fun to fly. Blade should be embarrassed for the plastic gear sets that were on this bird when it came on the market. They obviously figured out it was a terrible design and came out with the metal gear sets but give me a break Blade, you screw up on your design and now I have to pay an outragious price for the metal gears. Well the good news is they last. The plastic gears would go out almost every single crash. These gears are tough.

I can do just about anything I can do with my 500 with this little guy. Doesn't hold inverted quite as well but loops, rolls and flips it is an animal. It is also very fast.

Thought I had a bad servo, turned out the servo motor had slipped in its socket and the gears were not lined up. Put a little canopy glue on the motor to hold it in place. As soon as it is dry I'll maiden this bird.

Ken

I was having a problem with the bird shaking or wobbling during fast forward flight. Someone told me to clean the carbon off the servos which I did but did not improve the situation. I let this guy sit for a long time out of frustration. I decided the extended tail was a must and went with a titanium main shaft. The blade grips I went metal because the stock Blade grips just can't take much abuse. I think the problem with the wobble was a dumb thing on my part. The last time I took the frame apart to replace a servo I didn't secure the main board. It had some play in it which of course the gyro does not like. I secured it with a couple of wire ties and I'm hoping that with the other upgrades make this thing stable again.

I gave up on my 130x because of the bad design.
Some of you guys have spent a small fortune on the heli and I just wasn't prepared to pay that. As far as I could see it was just badly designed horizon hobby should have sent metal tail gears out to existing owners and sold all newer ones with the upgraded gears.

Nice bird ken hope she flys as good as she looks.
