My new quad build

Post by Tony »

Yes guys I've actually built a quad all by myself....

I have received parts to build this from Graham and Dan which I am very very grateful for..

The frame and motors are from Graham

The ESC's, cc3d board (with OP) installed, and 2 bags of props from Dan

The only thing I've had to buy was the PDB, I had the RX off my heli..

So I started the build this morning when Dans gear came.. Soldered the wires on the PDB first

Then temporary added the motor arms and ESC's so I could get the correct length of cable.
image.jpg
image.jpg (1.22 MiB) Viewed 2842 times
Then started putting it all together..
image.jpg
image.jpg (1.27 MiB) Viewed 2842 times
And now I have this little beast....

My thanks to Graham and Dan for all the parts, and to prove it really does fly... To my shock and utter amazement.... Here is a maiden, I couldn't wait till it got light....so it's quite hard to see how stable it is.... Really good, I'll stretch its legs tomorrow, no, it's props....

Thanks to Lee also for helping me setup openpilot via Skype....

Big ups to Graham, Dan and Lee for helping Tony out.
It warms the cockles of me heart to know there are still good blokes like you in the world.

Yeah what he said. :)
I am sure the smile on your face and the joy in your heart will be well obvious to those around you after that flight.

Tony when you get to FPV that thing please pick a football field or somewhere big and open with no long grass.

AND PUT A BEEPER ON IT, A REALLY LOUD ONE!!! :)

We don't want to see you go through this again. :)

Listen to Christine, "don't do that" :D LOL
Redo your set level.
Go to the Attitude menu and set level.
Make sure the quad is perfectly level before you do it.
If it still moves, there are two ways to fix this.
Easy or Harder.
Easy is put something under the leg of the quad that its drifting toward. How much you put under depends on how bad the drift is.
Then press the level button in the menu. Do this till its not drifting badly.
Harder way, go into the GCS and adjust accell bias :D
I'd try the first one my self ;)

Haha, she couldn't keep up with the throttle pumps.... Daft buga....

I'll do the easy bit first. When you get it level on the table/bench can the FC not remember this for future flights instead of having to find a level spot every time you plug battery in....seems daft to have to keep doing that when you've already got it spot on....

Thanks Lee

The level you set is its datum that's what it will consider level anytime you turn it on,

thanks Kev. so if its on uneven ground when i power it up (like on grass) will it remember the original "level" settings i done on the bench?
