Spektrum Satellite Rx

Post by cml001 »

Hi guys, hope this is in the right section.. ?, what is the range on a Spektrum sat? How far out can one go on a stand alone Spektrum sat... No full rx with a sat.. Just a sat.. I have my 250 quad running just a sat but don't know how far I should take.. The Spektrum sat doesn't note the range. Thoughts/known answers?

That's actually a really good question, Clay! I honestly have no idea.

Just sent Specktrum that question. None of the documents say what it is and since I use one on my Kbar its a good thing to know.

I doubt they'll give you a definitive answer. And if they do it will be free-air line of sight without obstructions. Possibly even the theoretical range given signal strengths and protocol. In reality it depends on the materials around the sat and between the sat and tx. This is probably something you'll need to determine experimentally with your particular model and tx and flying site.

Clay...I don't know if this will help you bet let's give it a try...

I imagine that a sat rx will get as much, if not "more", range as my AR6115e Microlite Park Flyer receiver. I have that rx on my little Experimental Airlines Delta Wing and I have flown it so high vertically that I have actually lost visual sight of it. I've done this many times and when the plane comes down, the light on the rx is always still solid. I've never lost signal.

Do I have an exact distance? No....but to fly it completely out of sight and still have never lost signal....That's pretty good!
