I thought I'd make a thread showing the progress of the boat I'm building at work.
I know its not an RC boat, but I thought it would be interesting.
Some of the photos you will have seen from my other thread, but this one will be updated now, until the finish of the boat.

State of progress, when I arrived for my first day.
Image

First job for me, was making the anchors for the stays to the mast.
Image
Image

Then I had my first go on a Lathe, and made the 6 bushing mounts for the Keels.
Aluminium bar, cut to length and drilled for mounting on the lathe.
Image

Turned down to outer dimensions.
Image

Inner cup turned to accept the nylon bushings.
Image

Making of the hydraulic keels. Just like making a scratch built wng :D
Image

Image

Turning the keel mounting components and axles.

All the components I made, fitted into the head of the keel.

Axle test fit.

Image

Image

Keel test flit.

Image

Bushings for the metal holders.

Image

Image

Had to make my first tool, for cutting the chamfer. Very pleased with the results for a first go :)

Image

One down, 11 to go :)

I am really enjoying my new job. Hope you enjoy following the progress with me.

Very cool. Like I said in the other thread, machining is one the things on my list to learn. Quite jealous. :)

Been a while since I updated this.
We have been doing a lot of measuring welding cutting and remeasuring. So not a lot to take pictures of.

But the last few days, I have been making a keel for the monohull boat.
Trying to bend a 12mm plate of aluminium without a bending machine, is quite tough :)

Its been a while since I updated this.
Mainly because what we have been doing, hasn't really shown any visual changes.
We are starting to cover the frame with out skin now. Its been very hard and at times dangerous, with the tensions involved in bending metal.
But its starting to take shape. :)

The tension in it is immense.
A G clamp let go today and it sprang out. Almost broke my mates arm.

Great satisfaction Tony.
What I can't wait for, is to see how the hell, they are going to get it out of the building, and down to the port

There are pictures above Dan, of the construction of the Centre boards.
And a picture of the guys fitting it.

Today we had to go to the port, to repair a yacht that ran aground.
Put a big old dent in the bottom, and keel.
Also ripped a bung out, so it was sinking quickly.
So we welded the hole shut, and repaired the dents enough, so the guy could get back to France, and do a full repair.
