I still have a 72mhz Futaba 6 channel transmitter. I use to use it for medium range fpv with my 1.3ghz video.

Yeah, 2.4 has pretty much taken over. If you have FM equipment and models that you're happy with then stick with it, by all means. At least you won't have to worry much at all about channel conflicts.
