My First FPV Flight:)

Did my first FPV flight today and it was awesome:)
I could tell i had gone to the end of the park and too high, so i panicked:( I removed the goggles and could not see the quad as it was so far away even with lights:(
I started to look where it was and land it at a distance, then i had a eureka moment. Realizing i had FPV goggles i told myself height is my friend, so i powered up and put my goggles back on. The screen went fuzzy at one point, but i was able to turn it round in strong wind, orientate myself and fly it home and land nose in:)
My heart was racing , i was shaking, and i was over the moon with delight:)
One thing i noticed is things dont look close. The quad covered a lot of ground in a short time assisted by wind. If it was not for FPV i would have never recovered the quad.
I will upload the video on youtube and post it as soon as it is done:)

Wow Graham, that sounds so familiar with my first fpv, fortunately I had Lee with me.... Sounds like an awesome adrenaline Rush for you, nice one. You certainly don't realise how fast or far away you are flying, but it's great fun... Glad you recovered it ok

That's really exciting, Graham! Very cool! FPV is an amazing feature about our hobby. I've got a few FPV flights with my planes and it was amazing! I'm looking forward to the FPV quad realm.
I'll be watching for your video!!!

http://youtu.be/HtuXWA6W7rI At first i had the Fatsharks on then when i get to the start of the trees i removed them to see where it was. Between then and 1.40 is LOS:) after that power on for height then you can see my mates large house at 2.08, i had the goggles on and started to fight the wind to get her home:) Did not have IU1 on:)

That was really fantastic, Graham! Very nice job! I started watching the landscape go by, more and more, and I began to wonder when you were going to turn it around, ha ha ha. That's really something to be proud of buddy! I'm happy for ya!!!

Yeah...just calm your nerves and relax a bit. Charge up another pack and go try it again.....perhaps this time without quite as much distance, lol.

Nice job mate, loved the big grin on your face when you went to pick the quad up.
How about next time you try to stay around that football field for a few batteries. Save us all a few heart attacks.

I know I said altitude is your friend but this was a little extreme.
You were so lucky not to lose it out there somewhere but that was pretty quick thinking to get the goggles back on and bring it home.
Now you finally know what we are all raving about, FPV rocks.
If the quad is drifting in angle (self level) mode, land, disarm and hold that stick position (low left).
Push the elevator/aileron in the direction of desired correction, more beeps or LED flashes = more correction.
Suggestions for future flights.
Stay closer, perhaps not outside the football field for a while.

I assume you are flying angle (self level) mode, stay a bit lower and keep flying forward (slowly).
If you get in to trouble let go of everything except the throttle, just gain some height.
Short flights, land, relax, repeat.
Enjoy.
