Over the past few months, I've seen some really good videos and I've read some really great reviews on this fpv wing. I see a lot of people getting the PNP version from Banggood for about $85. That's all fine and dandy but I bought the kit version from Hobby King. The PNP has plastic gear servos. I'm not a fan of plastic gear servos. I did read that several people had motor/esc combos that would desync and/or burn out quickly. Bruce, at RCModelReviews, had some troubles getting the vtx to work.
All that being said, Hobby King has the S800 in the US Warehouse for $35. I got a Hobbywing 2205-2300kv motor, two digital metal gear 17gram servos, and a few other bits. I decided to go overkill with the esc, using a Plush 40amp (from my parts bin)....can't go wrong with a bit of overkill. I have spare ImmersionRC 600mw 5.8ghz vtx. Spektrum rx. I have a 600 tvl fpv camera. I also bought a Turnigy HD 1080p action camera. I've got a bunch of 5045 and 6045 DAL and HQ props. I soldered the esc directly to the motor. I wasn't real concerned about motor direction because I have CW and CCW props, lol.
I've added a JST plug in between the battery and the vtx so that I can run the wing with or without the vtx on. I've plugged in a 3S and 4S pack and I've tested the video system and set all control throws. No magic pixie smoke! Once agian, I'm lousy and build videos or documented pictures, so here is the finished product..all ready to go.
I'll have to check the directions to see where the CoG is suppose to be, but that's it. Although it's suppose to be quite cold this week, hopefully I can get out and maiden this wing. I did give it a full throttle test, with a "storage charged" 3S pack and a DAL6045.....this thing has got some power. I imagine 4S with a 5045 is just gonna be a wild ride, lol
