Cheap goggles

Post by DOG »

Hey everyone. I have the Eachine 007 googles. They have no DVR and the resolution isn't the greatest but it works. I can't see paying for fatshark goggles for the flying I do. I decided to get new cheap goggles. These goggles have a DVR in it plus 2 antennas. The first batch of these goggles wasn't the greatest. This second batch are suppose to be better then the first batch. I'll fine out soon enough since I ordered them this afternoon. These are the one I just ordered http://graysonhobby.com/eachine-vrd2-v2 ... rsity.html

Ya know...I've seen a lot of people use this type of FPV goggles and they seem to really like them. My friend, Mike, has a set similar to the ones that you showed and he loves them. Quite a few people like this style because they can wear their prescription glasses while wearing them. I have prescription glasses but I love my Fatsharks. I can tell you this....those googles, from Grayson Hobby, should work real well for you and I'm sure you'll like them. Best of luck buddy!

Hey there Mr. Derek. Long time my friend. I thank you for that information. Yeah I do love to get a set of fat shark goggles but for the price and for what I fly, "Tiny whoop", it's not worst spending that kind of money. Just my opinion. I feel better now knowing someone really likes them. I do have prescription glasses in the 007. Hopefully with the side adjustment it has on this model that I might not need glasses on theses goggles. Thanks again Derek. Good to here from you! :)

Yes...Fatsharks are pricey. Those head mounted goggles are awesome for their price! I am probably going to get a pair, just like yours, so that my spectators can ride along (wife, daughter, Dad, whoever). Despite the fact that my Fatsharks are the v1 (outdated, unavailable, and probably laughable) they still work very well, so I really see no sense in replacing them with newer Fatsharks. Maybe some day...just not today, lol.

The wife gave me the a OK to get the fat sharks if I want them. I really don't want to spend that much money on goggles just for theses tiny whoop I fly. I rather use the money to buy parts for my helis when I need it. If anything I would like to get a Fancy heli like a Goblin 570, Gaui X5 V2. The whoops are fun to fly but the helis are more challenging and rewarding to fly. Just my opinion.

I agree DOG, however, FPV is just another arm of our hobby.
I once said i would never get a DJI Phantom:)
Built a TBS Discovery, now i have a Phantom 3.
Love my Helicopters the most, but i am rubbish at flying the, but the challange of that is what makes them the best.
Similar with FPV, it can be very challenging to get good at it.

For info, Tony on here is selling his Skyzone FPV Goggles, and they have some features that are better than Fatsharks. I have used both :)

Thank you guys :) I know it's no fat shark but like Graham Lawrie mention, for the price they looks good. Just hope they work as good as they look  I already compare them to the 007, last night. The resolution is a whole lot clearer. I agree with Graham Lawrie, my helis are still my favorite choice to fly but the whoop are fun as hell to fly while batteries are charging for my helis or just a need a change of pace in flying. Once the winds calm down this morning or evening, I'll make a video of me flying the whoop track that the wife and I made. One of my tracks is cruising through the woods :o that will be intresting

Your goggles don't have to be Fatsharks to be functional. Like I said above, a buddy of mine has a similar set of goggles (much less expensive than Fatsharks) and he loves them.

Just have fun with them! That's what matters!

You are absolutely right Derek about what matters. Just go out and have some fun. I haven't had a chance to really try the goggles out due to high winds :( During this time I did improve the vision of my home made arches for my whoops. My wife got me some pool noddles @ the dollar store so I put them to use  I should be able to see the arches now

Are the hoops made of ply?
If you spit the noodles lengthways and put them over the ply it will give you something softer to crash in to. :D

Hey there Stambo. Yes the hoops are made of 1/4" plywood rip@ 2". The balancing legs are 1/2"x 2"x 10" construction plywood and of course the noodles  . I'm getting use to the goggles and mostly the objects coming quick 8-) . I'm very impress with you guys that fly real Quads. I'll stick to the whoop. I'm still a heli man, always will be, FPV definitely second :). I notice this evening that my connections that leads into the goggles for the antenna were loose :o . I wounder why my signal was fading in and out today. I got it all tighten and ready for tomorrow. Here's the video of this evening flight. https://youtu.be/Vul_UUutKUI
