Derek Has Some Gravity!!!

I met a guy that has decided to thin out his spare quad frames. He mentioned that he had a Fossil's Gravity 250 and he was interested in selling it. Immediately, I jumped on it. This is the frame that I was thinking about getting before I opted to get the Shuriken 180. Now.......I have both!

Now it's time to search for parts and pieces. I'm not real good at getting "the cleanest build" but I'd really like to take my time and build this one cleanly.

Thanks Graham! I'm super stoked that I finally have one. I've wanted this frame since I first saw it. I've spoken with Kev, on Facebook, a bit and he's given me some ideas for components. If I remember right, he said something about a Kombini FC and Emax bullet esc's. I've never even heard of the Kombini FC, so that will be a learning experience.

Can the Gravity 250 be set up for 3S and 4S? I haven't found any 18xx motors that are spec'd for 4S.

I have a spare set of Sunnysky 2207-2100kv motors that I bought as backups for my ZMR250. Just for laughs, I thought I'd try to set one of these Sunnysky motors in the Gravity 250. They fit in there quite well! So, it looks like I've found the motors that I'm going to use for this build because I know they can handle 3S and 4S.

Nice one Derek, they changed this model for that very reason to allow bigger motors for 4s:) Take a look at my build and see a different way as a cheaper alternative to a PDB and space saver with a copper plate for +&-
Kombini is not cheap:)

Ive got the PDB installed, esc's installed and soldered to the PDB and motors. Motors installed. Its been a tedious build but ive really enjoyed it. Im gonna order another PDB and install it in my ZMR.

There's not much room in the Fossil. I rebuilt mine 3 times as components got smaller

Well now....we have a bit of a problem, lol. I'm trying to fit my ImmersionRC 200mw vtx inside the top of the Gravity and I just don't think this is gonna work. I have an SMA extension screwed to the vtx so that the video antenna isn't attached directly to the vtx. So far, no matter what orientation, this ImmersionRC vtx is just not gonna fit under the hood without being in the way of the Naze32 USB port or having some part of the metal connector pressing down on the Naze32.

So, I'm wondering, is there an ImmersionRC compatible 200mw vtx that is smaller?

Got the new Lumenier vtx ordered. It arrived today. I've spent the last 6 hours, or so, getting everything installed and mostly tidy. It's been a fun build and I've learned quite a bit about "placement." Most wires are as short as possible and, all in all, I'm happy with how everything does fit inside the Gravity 250. I did drill a few holes, here and there but here is a pic of what I have now:

At some point, I think I mentioned that I've not had previous experiences with PDB boards but this PDB is very straight forward and I really think I did a good job. I may have to order another PDB board and strip down my ZMR to install the PDB....but that's for another thread, lol.

I did grab a battery, knowing it was not fully charged, and powered everything up....no magic smoke!!! I was able to get the accelerometer calibrated, the tx is talking to the rx and I can see the bars moving in the Receiver Tab in Cleanflight, got the board orientation noted in the Config tab (+270 degrees on the yaw axis), then the low voltage beeper started beeping, lol. So, I unplugged everything and put the battery on the charger so that I can finish the setup. While I'm waiting for the battery to charge, I've left this post and now I'm off to clean up my work space a bit, ha ha ha.

If all goes well, I'll maiden the new Gravity 250 tomorrow before work.
