:? If I was going to purchase a Helical FPV antenna for my goggles, which one would you gentlemen recommend. This is one https://www.helidirect.com/fpv/fpv-ante ... ic-v3.html or this one http://graysonhobby.com/aomway-helical- ... -rhcp.html. and beside the name brand and the big price difference, what else am I over looking if any. I just want one that will work  Thanks for your opinion in advance :)

Well after searching you tube I found a video on the Aomway helical antenna showing it wasn't a hit. So I'm looking to get this instead http://www.stoneblueairlines.com/vas-5- ... tenna.html

Thanks KevG :) I have this right now on my goggles and my quad http://www.getfpv.com/lumenier-pagoda-2 ... -rhcp.html and I should get this instead for my goggles and quad http://www.getfpv.com/lumenier-pagoda-2 ... -rhcp.html and this antenna doesn't replace my patch antenna or does it?

You've linked both the same thing above.

My set up is TBS Triumph on quad and on goggles I have Pagoda 2 and IRC mini patch All RCHP

The patch is good, a helical is a very directional antenna and that direction gets narrower with the increasing amount of turns, do you have diversity on your goggles,

Hey KevG. Yes I do have diversity on my goggles. The goggles has a patch antenna and pagoda antenna to sister up with. Sorry for the wrong link last time  but this is what I have for the quad and goggles at the moment https://www.helidirect.com/fpv/fpv-ante ... a-sma.html You mention to get this antenna instead http://www.getfpv.com/lumenier-pagoda-2 ... -rhcp.html rather then a Helical antenna?

Sorry mate I read the first post wrong, I would not suggest going for a helical over a patch, you wont see a difference, and I would not suggest replacing the CP antenna with a helical because of the directing orientation of the both antennas pointing forward will limit your diversity of the module, the CP gives a circle of pick up all around you where as the helical and patch are both in front of the antennas

the pagoda you have on your goggles combined with a patch is good.

Helical are designed more for long range and are best served on base stations where its pointing directly at the drone/plane the narrowness of the antenna over the longer range is not so important,

Thanks again KevG . Mr Derek mention the same thing about not needing Helical either. Where I fly I need more circle of pick up then distance. What I did was go ahead and took your guys advice and dumped the Helical antenna and ordered 2 of the new lumenier-pagoda 2 version and give that a try. One for the goggles and I for the quad plus the adapters to make it work :)

Hey Derek. Yeah, I hope so, if not then I'll save a couple of dollars and get some of goggles with video input. That way If I have to I can use a ground station of some sort. Hopefully this will work good enough :) Thanks for advice everyone and I'll post up when I have everything set up. Parts arrive Friday.

I've should of asked last time but I didn't  So how about patch antennas. I've heard the higher the dbi is on the patch antenna will increases your reception even better :? The word on the street is Menace invader patch antenna is the bomb  The menace has the same dbi "6" as my patch antenna :o . I did fine a patch antenna that has 9 dbi and was thinking about getting it but want to know if it's worth it :? I find out after tomorrow if I need a new patch when my Lumenieri pogoda2 antenna comes in. If I get the same reception with the new antennas as last time then I'll think about trying out a new patch antenna then ;)
