YOU GUYS ARE SUCH A BAD INFLUENCE!!!....and I love you guys, lmao
As if I really need "another iron in the fire", I just ordered my mini quad frame. I chose the Dart 250 quad from HK.

Nice one Derek.
I'll interested in what you think of that frame.

One of the guys that I'm sub'd to on Youtube bought this frame and he said he really likes it. I've been admiring it for quite some time now. This morning, I was admiring it "again" and instead of simply closing out the window, I clicked on "Add to Cart" and then clicked on "Pay Now", lol.
Unfortunately, the frame is coming from the International Warehouse, so it's gonna take up to 14 days to get here, ugh! The two US Warehouses only had a super simple frame. I was actually thinking about getting the super simple frame, from the US Warehouse, as a "starter". It was only $10. But...I really wanted the "Dart" frame. So....here's to hoping for some fast shipping, lol.

Before too long the question will be "Who doesn't have a MiniQuad".
Hope you enjoy it as much as the rest of us.

Yeah, I'm not really concerned about the Zombie Apocalypse.....it's the Mini Quad Apocalypse that scares me, lol.
I'm doing some searching around, right now, to see what motors and esc's people are enjoying. I see a lot of praise from the T-Motors, E-Max, and I believe Lee has the Lumineers. ESC's have some varying opinions. Some people praise the Afro ESC's. Others are knocking it. There are just so many different brands to choose from, lol.

Avoid the Afros Derek. A lot of issues with timing.
The latest and best are the new KISS escs.

I heard someone else, recently, mention the KISS esc's. I'll have a look.

I was just looking for the KISS esc's. I looked at getfpv.com. They only have the 18amp esc's....no 12amp. This esc looks very small, indeed. I did download the manual and the manual shows everything that needs to be done. Very cool! I thought it was odd to see an esc with no wires on it at all, lol. In the manual, they show where each wire gets soldered. If I do go with these esc's, I'll have to get a new soldering tip for my soldering iron. I don't have one of those fine tips.

I think Kiss ESCs will be on the shopping list for my next build.
They are tiny Derek, but you also need a bec as they are opto.
The 18a are smaller and lighter than my 12a Emax ones.
Most people now solder the motor wires direct to the ESC.

I have to say that I liked what I saw when looking at the KISS esc's. I just hope my soldering skills are up to it, lol.
How big of a bec would be needed?

Oh no...not a chance, Tony. Once the flyable weather comes, we're gonna see heli's and planes back in the air again. Just need to get to that point.

I am now comfortable flying in winds that I would not even contemplate with a heli or plane.
These modern control boards are just awesome.
I may even look at putting one of my old kk2s on my AXN and see what happens.

I just got an email stating that my mini quad has been dispatched to be shipped today. That's great! Less than 24 hours from the time of order to shipping. Now we'll just have to wait and see how long it takes to get from Hong Kong to Indiana, USA.
I've been doing some research on how to protect the solder joints on the PDB. I'm really looking forward to this build. I just love "the build", lol.
