Before any one criticizes me let may say this: holy cow it felt so good.

So a guy here at work wanted to see what the 180 could do. I showed him stuff that I do in the sim. Did a couple figure 8s and and some forward flight. I couldn't just stop there,. Of I couldn't the reason for the 180 is to start transitioning my sim stuff to real life. So I decided to do some back flips and did rather well considering it was my first time in real life. Then after loosing a few and gaining control again I said "let's see how hard rolls are" so I did a few right rolls. Lost it a few times because the wind was playing with me the whole time. On the last roll I lost it to a n incounter with the tall grass.

Damage minimal, only things I don't have are main blades canopy and servo gears. Missed throttle hold as always. In the end it felt great just to let loose and fly.

Nothing wrong with having a little fun at work. Sorry about the crash but sounds like you had fun doing so.

Yeah I know if you never venture in to the water you never grow. At the same time I know some people want to play safety Nazi. All I can say is at least I did it on the 180 instead of the 360 for many reasons. But yes those first flips and rolls felt so good. Once this kit is fixed I am going to have to fix it again. One other thing I don't want people to think I am skipping steps.

Was there something unsafe about the flight?

Keep your distance (and that's relative to help size, of course) and be ready with th if it gets out of control, particularly moving toward you or others.

Doesn't sound like you were unsafe from what you described.

As to steps... There are guidelines and suggestions, but that's all they are. You need to keep it interesting too. If that means tackling some sport aerobatics before you have all your hovering orientations locked down, then do it with gusto. You'll get around to it all eventually as long as you keep it interesting. And sometimes something you jump ahead to makes that tricky thing easier when the time comes.

Just gotta fly man.. It all comes in time.. And the kool thing is... Progression is never ending with helis.. U can always learn more.. Always clean it up.. And if u feel it(which I think we all do here).. U will always want to. Yeah! My man cut loose... AWESOME! And hey.. If u ain't crash'n... U ain't fly'n!

NO I always ensure that things are safe while i fly. Things I cant predict are mechanical failures and tx/rx issues.

The other day I flew the X3 at work while on break. My supervisor (who was leaving for the day) was on his way to the car and was privileged enough to lay eyes on the awesomeness of the X3 (little lol there). He thought it important enough to tell me I need to be safe about it. As if I had didn't know that already. Anyhow if had seen how the 180 was flying he would have grounded me instantly even though I was yards away from anyone or anything. Boy that thing was screaming through the air. If those blades had been 690s I would have had blade farts. One comment that resonates with me right now is "Man that thing sounds like a pissed off bee."

In the end I had fun, the 5 or 6 people enjoyed what they saw and really enjoyed the crash. Then again who doesn't enjoy a good crash. I got a bunch of questions after I was done. It seemed to spark interest in a couple people. F it its time to have fun on this little bird.

It definitely is more fun. Shred the air and have a blast. I think the 180 will help me get out of the rut
