The X3 flies again

Finally I got the kbar reset and auto trimmed. Instill have a cyclic bobble and a very slight tail bobble. I amnthinking the pid gains may need set, not sure yet. I still need tonfly at an open field and see what needs done.
I discovered that on android while doing your setup you can change banks. Your setup can be set on each bank. So I went a had to reinstall vstabi on my wife's and kids lappy to get the setup done. Once that was done I went outside and used the android app.
I like the app but was antimidating at first but finally got it to a point to start tuning. This is going to be fun I think. Anyhow with the funfly right around the corner I need to practice.

Yes it feels good. Even with the bobble I was doing fast flat circles (tail in). Did some 45° hovers and tried to get to 90°. I almost tried a piro but the space is to small for that, in case I lose it. For some reason piros are harder for me in the DX6.

At this point the beginning value is no longe . I took the head gain as low as 40 and as high as 90. I may have to go lower yet and increase paddle sim. I did jump the paddle sim up to 30.
Right now it flies and I am good with that. Once I get the bobble mitagated then I will play around with the banks. I could do banks on the pid gains and see what happens.

Was going to head off to the soccer field. Mother nature said screw you heli pilots the grass needs watering. Oh well. I think I just may charge up for lunch time. I also may head off to takacs field on Saturday. I have lots to get done before old man winter gets here.

got it a lot closer in two packs. Got the gains set and also had to increas P and I gains on the tail. Things locked in way better and the bobbles have been almost tuned out. I also remembered that I have the castle govenor on and cant tune the governor right now. I think its time for the field and see how I can handle her. I was getting somewhat crazy already and things sounded great. this new headspeed sure does make the heli a lot more quite.
I am thinking about redoing the auto trim. its holding very well but now that the gains are set better i think I could get it closer.

I just got back from the Soccer field and boy it felt great to actually do something other than hovering. While I still have a very slight bobble from time to time its stil flyable. The first back out I did some side to side flying , still not comfortable to do and turns. I would get out a bit and stop, slowly piro to the left and fly left. I also did some pitch pumps and it want to pull left while in the clime. The tail seamed to stay flat on the climb but since it was tail in I could not really tell. I should have redone the auto trim while I was there but I wanted to just fly.
On the second pack I did much of the same thing but added left and right piros. It spun almost perfectly flat, very little drift. I also found I like to drop the collective while spinning left and I also got comfortable with adjust for it while spinning. I know I dont have videos yet, I am hoping to have something rigged up by next weekends funfly.
My goal is to fly after work every day on my way home from work. I pass the Soccer fields on the way home. I really want to get over the hump of making banked turns. If I fly every day I am sure to get it going before next weekend.
If the Kbar is this good I can only imagine what a Vbar Neo would be like. Maybe at tax time I can get the Neo and some spares. I was going to try and do a 6S upgrade but I think I will keep this 3s setup and just get blades, spares and a Neo. Time will tell.
P.S.
Jesse the lappy the software is on had the magic smoke issue. The wifes lappy is not connecting to the internet and needs windows reinstalled. I am currently running a live Ubuntu session from thumb drive.

How snug are your blades ?
I have found out with the Forza they dont like to be loose . I set them to were they would fall if you shook it hard like they use to say with 450 but have found to go tighter on them these days . Heck even on the Oxy3 they are stiff to move and have not seen any head shake from them at all

Tighter than normal I think. I would have to check. I believe if a good gerk and they fall about 45 degrees.

I just rebuild the head? Replaced the dampers? I found that brand new dampers can sometimes cause a bobble.. Couple flights to wear it in helped me determine this on my 550 couple months back when I did my yearly check up & tune.

I have heard the same thing from others. To be honest with the small amount of flights I have on her I doubt that what it is. I believe it to be a tune issue. The bobbles are when its changing from hover to moving or changing directions. The head bobble can be caused by tail issues due to the governor. So there is a lot to look at. Time for bank switching with the gains.
