Had a slight issue, used the wrong screw on the boom for pinning. I needed a 2x12 and used a 2x16. I now have 2 torque tubes. The replacement is built and the green wicking thread locker is curing.

Re: Gaui X3 back in the air, or was
Thank you Lee
I was scared a bit. Almost wet myself. I tried to stay calm and used the auto techniques I have been practicing on neXtRc. One thing I did not do was try and direct the heli other than up and down. Since it drifted right I let it since it was an open area. I still have not learned the skills to fly while doing pirouettes. I got lucky I didn't have a tip over once the skids caught the grass. I feel good about the save and avoided a crash.

Re: Gaui X3 back in the air, or was
I don't know what X3's normally sound like but, to me, it sounded like something was binding or being stressed. I could be wrong.
Nonetheless, that was a super great save! Nice job getting it to the ground safely!!

That extra noise was the pinning screw digging into the torque tube. Let me take a picture so you all can see what exactly happened.

Re: Gaui X3 back in the air, or was
This shows the hole that was made by the pinning bolt. Before anyone asks, the manual calls for a M2x12 bolt, I used an M2x16. I dremmeled down the bolt to 12mm because I dont have the right one YET.

All that thus one is to show is the discoloration on the metal. That's where the pinning bolt was rubbing the tt.

Re: Gaui X3 back in the air, or was
So here is the latest and greatest from the crazy would of me.
I went into castle link and decided to some fishing around. I turned off fixed end points, heli governor and updated the gear ratio information. I then set the target head speeds at the bottom. I used 2700 3000 3200. Now castle did its thing with my numbers and told me to use 30%, 70%, 100%. I then went back and set fixed end points, external governor with auto rotation bail out turned off.
I then went into the Vcontrol and rest my esc output numbers to 30 50 70 percent. SO I hope this will gives me better results and actually shows the head speed on the radio. It supposed to show the head speed through telemetry, which I have activated on the radio.

Re: Gaui X3 back in the air, or was
Are you using the vbar governor? Just a bit confused why you set castle gov on and did the gear ratio stuff and then disabled it to use external gov again.

Re: Gaui X3 back in the air, or was
I am using the Vbar. I did all that other stuff just in case it was causing other issues. I just wanted the ESC to be reporting the correct info if it is talking to the VBAR. I had a bunch of stuff in it from the before the last crash. I had changed the pinion and batteries. Like I just stated is that if the Castle is sending this info to the Vbar I wanted it be correct. I am just grabbing at stuff to see why I am not getting any telemetry feed back for head speed.

Re: Gaui X3 back in the air, or was
Its been a few days but I am getting over now. I managed to burn up my Scorpion 2520. I had a thermal shutdown at 313 F on sunday. At this point I am going to be ordering a new motor and esc before to long. Well they will be on the last order before I leave.
So I am not sure what exactly happened but according to Scorpion I had an imbalance in the phases which caused both the motor and esc to over heat. I have looked at many things so I will settle for just saying the motor burned up. I dont think its the fault of scorpion but I do feel that there was some flaws in the craftsmanship. For instance the wire leads had excessive wicking. The issue with this is that you cant really run the wires in tight places. This led to the wires being kinked under the esc tray. In my haste I decided to shorten the wires and in the process I discovered a really wonderful thing, if you cut your wires to short solder wont stick to them Thats right this wires are coated in some kind of lacquer. From what I have seen and read the only thing that will remove the lacquer is an aspirin heated with a solder iron and liquidized.
In the end I did actually learn something. So I wont be cutting motor wires anymore unless there is to much wicking. In the end just watch what you cut. As for the motor its burned and scorpion chalked it up to human error.
Oh before I forget:
I still was not able to get the governor set up the way wanted it. I could only get it to work with throttle percentages. What I want is to set it based on a head speed number not percentages. Anyhow since I could the head speed to change via banks I decided thats what was going to have to happen. I found that for me anything over 60% throttle was way to much head speed so i programmed 40 50 60 percent. I still dont know what those head speeds are because for what ever reason the Neo is not sending back the info. If it is then I am not seeing on the screen even though I have it on there through the user made screens.
Now that should be it.

Re: Gaui X3 back in the air, or was
Hmm... I'll have to play around with my neo and vcontrol and see what is involved there. The Neo is governing things and I recall setting headspeeds through the vcontrol in terms of rpm, not throttle percentage. In my case the ESC is a scorpion ESC but as far as I know the signal the neo is getting is a simple phase trigger signal, not anything that involves gear ratios or other stuff. Same should be true for the castle.
You're using one of the newer "edge" castle ESC's right, with the white auxillary output wire and connector? You set it to RPM OUT mode in the castle setup software? Then in the vcontrol you set the number of poles (so it can divide the sensor trigger counts) and the gear ratio?

Re: Gaui X3 back in the air, or was
Yes thats what I have. When I set the headspeed via rpm on all three banks the motor started to over speed. So I hurried and flicked back to motor off. That happened twice so I said screw it and went with throttle percentages as the governor. As for the Vcontrol images these are just sarting points so dont be suggesting other numbers. I know they are not correct. Due to the current issue at hand the heli is down and I can not tune it.
