my 450 update

Hey guys, I been flying my 450 no training gear YAY for me, well today the motor pin broke, I cant find it, so I think I have to find a new motor, is there a way to limit the throttle, I don't wanna get to high, I wanna focus on my cyclic?

Yes, you can limit your throttle by lowering your Throttle Curve. Instead of being 0, 30, 75,75,75 (in normal mode), you can lower the 75's to 70 or 65.
BUT.....I think lower head speed is just going to cause you more grief than you think. 450's really need "MORE" head speed to maintain stability.
If you want to focus more on cyclic...that's fine...do that....but I think you're asking for trouble by lowering your head speeds.

Agreed. IF you are having trouble with maintaining altitude, you may want to switch to a flat throttle curve and use a reduced range pitch curve or one that has some softer response around center at least. Maybe something like this:
Norm:
Thr: 0-80-80-80-80
Pit: 35-45-50-65-90
This will remove throttle changes from the situation while hovering and doing sport flying. It will soften pitch response around center and in your hover zone, and reduce to max collective pitch a bit at full stick. Should tame things down for you and let to concentrate more on cyclic and maneuvering the heli.
If you're flying an idle up mode or doing any kind of loops/rolls, then you'd need to setup a totally flat throttle curve (80 all across) and then have a balanced pitch curve with the same pitch settings mirrored in the negative as you have for 50% and up. Something like IU1 pit: 20-35-50-65-90.

I couldn't agree with Paul more! I was trying to find the words to explain my thoughts but Paul covered it very well.

Depending on the motor & parts for it u could save & just replace the shaft.. If so I'd do the bearings while I was there... But honestly.. For the amount of aggravation and small expensive of a 450 class motor... Id just get a new motor.

I'm posting this in Dustin's thread because it relates to him. Dustin sent me a text the other day. He was feeling like the people at the Hangout don't like him. I have to admit that I was, and still am, a bit bothered about this. I just don't understand why Dustin would feel that we don't like him. To me, it's quite simple...he has a helicopter that has issues...he posts questions...we give him guidance, instruction, and suggestions and then doesn't post any type of progress for a long time and then tells me that he feels the Hangout doesn't like him. My question is "Why?"
Dustin....why would you possibly feel that we dont like you??? I just don't understand. You sent me your helicopter and I spent quite a bit of money to repair a BUNCH of damages. I send the helicopter back to you and you post a few questions. You attempt to fly the helicopter and cause a bit more damage. I would think you'd find it very beneficial if you'd continue to keep us posted about your progress. If you don't post anything for a LONG time, then we have nothing to help you with.

I don't get why you'd text me and say that you don't think the Hangout guys like you. We've been supportive and helpful since day 1. I just hope you get passed that thought and continue to update us on your progress.

You shouldn't be feeling like we don't care Dustin, we have all contributed in some way to help you with that heli. And we will continue to help in anyway we can, but, you have to keep us updated with what's going on. There was a long lapse in your posts on here so we obviously can't help when your not posting problems...
There isn't a single member on this forum who wouldn't help you, our knowledge is shared amongst everyone who needs it...
So stop feeling like that and get your problems posted, pictures and videos always help us to diagnose problems so if you have any, post them too..
As Graham said.... Chin up Dustin...

If you feel you've been ignored or a question didn't get answered or something, it is almost certainly just a matter of people having missed a post or perhaps not knowing how to help or what advice to give. We're a small group so sometimes posts will slip by or you may stumble into a situation for which someone doesn't have a good answer.
IF you don' get an answer in a day, post a "Anyone?" or whatever to get attention. OR try rewording to make a problem a little more clear.
And if this is all getting blown out of proportion. Sorry. Small group, we like our dramas. We will turn a mole hill sized one into a mountain if given the chance.
