Assault 700 experiences
I thought I would share my setup/thoughts and experiences on the Assault 700 as requested by a forum member.
I order the kit at the start of the year and ended up getting it fully kitted out late April. The Setup are as follows:
690mm RotorStar Main Blades
RJX Carbon fiber tail blades 105mm
YEP 120A
Turnigy SK3 4962 500kv
Rotor Star Dual power 15A Voltage regulator
Turnigy 1259TG cyclic servos
Turnigy 1257TG tail servo
iKon
Spectrum Satellite receivers
The built itself from what i can remember went down smoothly without any hitches. The manual isn't that good to be honest but it is pretty easy to figure out where everything goes (This was my second heli and I managed to figure it out). The maiden flights went down without a hitch as well. So i have logged over 66 flights with the machine and I think I can formulate a reasonable opinion at this stage. The heli itself is great, the quality of the main frame, bearing blocks, main rotor head and tail are very nice. My tail boom came with a light dent in the side luckily it wasn't bent besides it isn't actually noticeable unless to try to find the indentation. The drive train or more specific the main gear is where this machine is slightly let down. The motor I run is perfect in terms of its power (Being a 3.5KW motor) for this main gear. I suspect that if you run a more powerful more than that the main gear is very likely to strip since it is running non slanted plastic gear. I had to replace my main gear 53 flights in because I cracked a gear tooth during high rate flips. Not a deal breaker since the replacement cost around $10 directly from the manufacturer (Gartt RC). If you want to use this machine with a more powerful motor I would recommend you get yourself the align slanted gear. Another plus this model has is the fact the 99% of the align parts fit directly on it without any modification. The swash plate on mine is from version 2 and it seems to be holding up well but then again I am not running extreme servos on the cyclic so with servos such as the bk8001 you may have issues. Again if you want this to be a hard 3D machine you will prob want to swap out the swash as well but that is the thing it is all depends on your flying style. If you intend to do sport flying and some mildish 3D then this is a great machine especially at the price point.

Re: Assault 700 experiences
hey buddy...thanks a lot for that bit of write up!!! Like I mentioned in the other thread, I was given an Assault 700 frame and I was curious about your experiences. To my knowledge, mine is also the V2 so I am confident that I have the new swash and tail. Now, you say that you have logged 66+ flights on yours. That's very encouraging! It's even more encouraging considering the fact that you are obviously more skilled than I am so if the helicopter can handle your flying style, it should very well be able to handle mine. I'm more of a sport flyer with mild and occasional 3D.
Thanks for taking the time to post some info and I hope that you continue to share your flight videos of the Assault 700 as well as your other models.
Take care!!

Thank you . Yeah it is definitely a reasonable entry heli for sure.Graham Lawrie wrote:Nice one:) Love the Goblin 700:) Cameron on here has one:) Good to hear that the assault is a reasonable entry heli at this size for someone like me that cant fly 3D:)
Your are welcome . The Assault has been a very good heli so far. It will treat you well as long as you treat it well. Again some tips for once you do get it up and running. These should be normal heli maintenance anyways but I always tend to drop some silicon oil on the main shaft, swash plate and the tail shaft to ensure everything runs nice and smoothly. Also be sure to check screws on regular basis and inspect the gear (I also use lubricant here). If you do these things I am fairly confident this machine can last you a long time.Derek wrote:hey buddy...thanks a lot for that bit of write up!!! Re: Assault 700 experiences
Well I decided to add some lights on the Assault and turn it into my night flying heli. So far, I have had two successful night flights that encompassed basic circuit flying and inverted hovering. I have some flight video but can't really see much so here are some photos I took of it with my gopro while it was on the ground (see attachments)

Re: Assault 700 experiences
Well after stripping my main gear twice i decided to throw in an align slanted gear. I only had one flight with the new gear so far and wow I like this gear a lot. The heli is so much quieter than before. I also chucked on some black landing gear because why not haha.
