DOG's Fossil 180

Hey guys! DOG was having troubles getting things set up with his new 180 quad. He shipped it to me so that I can have "hands on" and try to sort out the troubles.
Now, I'm having a problem that I don't understand.
Here are some details
Omnibus F4 v2, Spektrum satellite rx, Betaflight
I've got the Omnibus all soldered up and flashed with the latest Betaflight. The board powers up. Accelerometer calibrated. OSD tested and working. Rx satellite has solid orange light when my DX8 is on. UART1 selected for SerialRx in the Ports tap. In the Configuration tab, I have selected Serial Based Receiver and Spektrum2048. However, when I get into the Receiver tab, the channel bars don't move when I move the sticks or flip the switches. In the Receiver tab, I did select Spektrum/Graupner/JR for the Channel Mapping (TAER1234).
Would you guys have any thoughts as to what I'm missing?

How did you bind it? Is it one of the new quad/racing spektrum satelites with bind buttons on them or did you plug it into another receiver to bind it? Maybe got bound in 1024/22ms sec mode instead of 2048/11ms?
Really have no idea. Not familiar enough with betaflight setup to be of much help without going through it myself.

Is the channel mapping correct?

I found this:)
OMNIBUS F4 AIO, F4 V2/V3/V4, F4 Pro "(v2)"/V3 and ASGARD
Board identification
For board identification, see OMNIBUS F4 V2 & V3 : Identifying revisions
Note for OMNIBUS F4 V3, V4 and ASGARD users
On OMNIBUS F4 V3 and later, serial RX is UART6, not UART1.
ASGARD also uses UART6 RX (J5) for serial RX.
These boards require a firmware with programmable inverter support (still OMNIBUSF4SD target).
With the support, inversion will be enabled/disabled according to selected serial RX protocol (e.g. SBUS, IBUS, ...).
However, inverter pin differs between F4 V3/V4 and ASGARD, and OMNIBUSF4SD target defaults to F4 V3/V4 design. ASGARD users must explicitly change the pin mapping by executing the following CLI command.

Im using a regular Spektrum DSMX satellite. I bound it using an AR8000.
Im quite confident that im using the right UART because i have the Omnibus f4 v2 on 3 of my other builds and i used UART1.
The channel mapping is set for Spektrum/Graupner/JR

I would try changing the mapping to AERT:)

Im not sure its a "channel mapping" issue because the channel bars dont move. If the setup was right and the mapping was wrong, wouldnt the bars still move (but the wrong channels would move)?

Not necessarily. I have had issues with the Naze and it was the mapping:) worth a try:)

After a few more hours of struggling with the Omnibus that was on the quad, and getting no where with the Receiver Tab in Betaflight, I decided to install and flash one of my spare Omnibus fc's. I went through the usual setup (flashing latest firmware and through each tab of Betaflight, one by one). Everything was going well. I even was able to get immediate response in the Receiver Tab. So, I got passed that hurdle. I went into calibrate the esc's and everything sounded good until I tested the motors with the Master slider. Motors 1-3 were spinning and sounding quite well. Motor 4 would not spin. I went in to Blheli Configurator and it's only reading esc's 1-3. So, esc 4 must be bad because I am getting battery voltage from the PDB to the esc.
So, I've messaged DOG about this and I hope that we can come up with a plan so that we can progress. But....I am happy to report that the Receiver issue has been resolved.

I thank you very much Derek for helping me out. I guess that fc went bad when I accidentally powered the fc with 12 volts vs 5 volts

. Live and learn that's what is all about

. I do have a new fc to replace the one that you replace with and 2 esc just in case. Thanks everyone for helping my self and Derek out. It's a pleasure to ask question on this site and get wonderful response. Keep up the good work RCHangout!

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE
Last week, I thought everything was sorted, so I plugged in a 3S pack and gave it a bit of throttle....motor 1 went up in smoke. That was disheartening!
I spoke with DOG about this and he encouraged me to not worry about. We talked about the issue a bit more and he decided to order four new Xnova 2204-2600kv motors for his 180. Well, he sent money to my Paypal and then I ordered them. Anyway, the motors showed up and WOW....they sure are some sexy looking motors. I got them all soldered up to the Little Bee esc's....double and triple checked the wiring. I went though the Betaflight Configurator....calibrated the esc's and now....I think we are in good shape. All 4 motors spin up evenly and smoothly. DOG has said that I can keep the 180 for a bit longer so that I can test fly it on my next day off, being Wednesday. I've got his 180 all buttoned up with props on and ready to go. So...come on Wednesday!

Hey there everyone

I would like to say "Thank you much" to Derek for all he has done. The 180 has been a pain in the butt from day one

. He offer to help me out and after a few minor set back, Derek got the quad going and ready for it's first flight. It's nice to have friends and RCHangout to help out in time of troubles.

To RCHangout and Derek...keep up the good work guys!
