I'm thinking of having a go at FPV this year and want to start building a mini quad as the flying platform and would like your opinions on the kit in the link below.

I agree unless you spend the big bucks on a Blackout or a genuine QAV250.
The weight difference and kit quality is noticeable.

I've had some surprise money come in and will be able to order the quad on Friday. I'm going to order from the link Lee posted.
The question is which controller board to go with the kk2 or multi wii?

Remove the board from the available options, and add a CC3D from the site.
I can give you all the settings and help you need to set it up perfectly.

I would go for Naze32 acro, you don't need the full deal for a miniquad and it's a lot cheaper.
Still has self level to learn with if you need it, although if you fly CP helis and planes I would go straight in to acro.
KK2 is old school 8 bit, good in it's day but been surpassed by 32 bit boards like the Naze32.

I've been having a look at the different software's for the different controllers.
And I think I'm going to go with the cc3d mainly because I prefer the user interface and the offer from Lee to help me set it up, this being my first multirotor.
I can't beleve how much these controller units are capable of with the addition of a few components.

Good news Dan,
It really is childs play to set up. Straight off the bat with stock settings, it will fly perfectly well.
Theres a difference between flying solid, and completely smooth video.
I wanted absolutely solid stable video, so did a little tweaking to the settings.
All I have to do is email you the file, and you're good to go :)

The Software for CC3D is way more intuitive and easier than Nase32 thats for sure.

I've placed my order for a mini quad. I've got it from the link that Lee posted. The specs for the quad itself are

1 x RCX H250CF-3K FPV Quadcopter (3K Carbon Fiber)
1 x CC3D Flight Controller + Case
4 x H1806 2400KV
4 x RCX 12A Sky SimonK ESC
1 x Power Distribution Board
16 x 5030 2-Blade EPP Propeller (Plastic)

Is there anything else that I'm going to need for this aircraft.

More propellors, and also perhaps some more again. :)

Nice one Dan. Welcome to the club.
We are going to have to have a race meet up in the UK when ever i'm home :)

I was breaking props every flight for the first few days (trying stupid stuff)
But in the last week, i've flown everyday and no more broken props.
This seems to be the best place I have found in the UK for spares.

Really looking forward to this get together... Wherever it's going to be... Maybe we are going to need a few degrees of forward pitch on these motors then... Lol
