I saw this video.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NsxyV-kgfio
My question is would i be able to run some 5v LED's off the cc3d/BEC
these are the lights
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LED-Light-Str ... 1456031563
Ive done some calculations and they would draw 0.8amp

I think you would need to calculate what everything else is going to be drawing from the BEC's 5volt bus Dan, including any surge currents... Personally I'd run LEDs directly from the lipo so your not running any risk of taking current from the 5 volt system bus...
800mA isn't a great deal but could could be disastrous if it takes the BEC over it's limit.
The led strips I have on my hk450 were 12 volt running directly from the 3S lipo
That's just my opinion...
By the way that video is totally awesome, makes you want to get into that type of flying... I will be at Xmas..lol

Personally I would do what tony stated. run off the lypo if you could. The last thing you need is for the 5v bus to go below required voltage. This could cause a brown out and other issues. see if you can run off the lipo.

Yup I agree with everyone so far. Get 12v leds and run straight from your lipos.
Or use a dedicated bec.
Don't risk overloading flight bec.

Yep 12V LEDs. I have a bunch of them.
Simply wire them to the Power board you have coming with your quad.
Plenty of pads on there to solder to.
I have a strip of blue across the back, Star Wars style

Forget orientation, fly FPV.

I will be Stambo, got all the gear now, but just for practice I'll still fly LOS I think.. Plus it means other fpv pilots can see me in front...haha

I was thinking it would also make it easier to find.

Yes I agree Graham, you tend to learn a lesson when you've lost an aircraft altogether... I know exactly what it's like. Mines still a submarine...lol

Nice one Dan, those are better than the 5volt ones...
