Went out with my mini-quad today and it was solid:) got some great video to:)
I then decided as the weather was awesome to go and get some scenery shots.........
Current situation, all i have left of my mini-quad is the lens cap for the mobius:(
I was about 100 feet up doing a nice pan shot of Glencoe, then away she went, out of site, a dot in the distance. I powered down and thats the last i have seen of her. Looked for 4 hours, needle in a haystack does not come into it:(
Megga downer, lost the lot including my Mobius. Wont get back for another look with the dark nights now till next weekend, by which time, rain etc ...........

No! Major suckage. Did you have "fly to home" enabled if signal is lost? Starting to think that is about the worst "feature" for RC aircraft. Much rather it simply go into a hold mode until signal reestablished. If it never comes, then it will run into LVC eventually and come down either hard or soft, but at least in a place you know or have likely had time to get to.
What controller was on it?

Dude!!!!
That sucks big time.
After my friend losing his, now you. these minis are for batting around at close quarters, not going off into the outback

I have a lost model beeper on mine, cause even at close quarters, these things disappear behind a blade of grass.
Relax tonight and have another go. Remember it took me three days to find mine.
If you no roughly where it is, and where it can't be, just do a grid search. Its bound to turn up.

The mini quads are normally using simple acro boards. Not the full GPS return to home gear, as its too heavy.
Just got to keep them close until you are 100% sure of everything, and even then, don't go too far.

So what happened then? Loose orientation? signal loss didn't result in motor power down?

sorry to hear that graham maybe look into one of these it has video and shoots stills plus has a return to pilot feature built into the quad and it fits in the palm of your hand.

So down last night i could not come on:(
@ Lee , i was in Glencoe MRT so well aware of search grids which i did:(
@ Paul It was flying solid and i tried to upload a video of it in the village during testing, which i will still do:) I put 6 batteries through her and she was solid, hence venturing to take some lovely planned scenic films from Glencoe to home:) She flew up to about 200ft, but i was 1500+ feet up to start with. I have re-thought it time and time again, and it was not even orirntation as she just kept going back in a straight line. Being so small it is hard to judge distance. The area i covered was massive. I will look again at the weekend as it is pitch black by 5pm here.
I have accepted that she is lost and i may never get her back:(
Nearly bought a new one, but i will leave that till after xmas. Weather looks ok till weekend, but the area is very boggy.

Literally a needle in a haystack. It is typical Scottish peat bog and about 1km square. This weekend:)
