Thanks Paul, the Mrs and I did a grid search, copied the 2 pole method Lee used in the river...walking from one pole to the next, then moving pole a few feet up the field... But we will try again on Thursday...

Mate, that sucks :(
Did you have the lost model finder on it?
Don`t give up, I know you`ll find it. It`s out there somewhere just waiting for you.
Time is your only restraint.
Keep your chin up. I`m positive you will find it.

Thanks Lee, no I didn't have the buzzer on as I disconnected it when I put the Naze board on then couldn't remember how to wire it back up.... I don't think it would have worked anyway as I'm sure the lipo came off altogether. I lost video on goggles, and no response on sticks, I was hoping I'd here the motors, but nothing. It had those bright blue leds on and the White ones on the front. But we couldn't see them on our search.. Used your pattern of searching too with sticks... If christine had got out of car to spot I wouldn't be having this prob tbh. But it was really cold and windy...

As long as you have a rough idea where it was going, I`m sure you will find it.
It took me two days to find my QAV500, because it was not where I expected.
Widen your search pattern.
Its not lost, its waiting to be found.

Sucks you lost you quad I almost lost a heli once. It got far enough out I could not tell if it was coming or going. Question: What do you find difficult about flying quads? I don't know your specific setup so I don't know what you had. I have the phantom 2 and it has a mode that I have let my 10 year old nephew fly. It's impossible to crash unless you want to and it will fly back home if it gets out of range or you just lose orientation.

Instead of changing the hobby maybe change the equipment?

well ive been out on the field all day today, pace walked back and forth but no luck. even looked about 200mtrs away. its gone... maybe it didnt crash and just took off in the wind. but within a couple of seconds of losing it the goggles lost picture... so who knows...

what ive learnt from this, get some goggles that can record the video, that way you can track its movements... a "Lost Buzzer" is useless unless it has its own lipo. im pretty sure my lipo on quad came off altogether in the crash rendering any on board means of finding it useless...

it was very foggy up there on the moors, peeing down with sleet and rain, wind was howling too.

Yea if you lost picture who knows that thing could be anywhere. I'm not sure being able to record would have helped you because you would have lost the recording at that point to. This is where a GPS based system would really help you. If you lose it, it will return to you.
And if you get OSD you will have the coordinates of where it is at as long as it is still transmitting video.

Lost buzzers can work but as you learned you need a separate battery for your RX and buzzer. But even this isn't fool proof because that can still get knocked loose during a crash.

Sorry to hear about your loss that really sucks.

I bought an OSD board last week but was advised not to use it.... I lost transmission anyway, so it wouldn't have helped...anyway... I'll find a new hobby...

Hopefully this link will work, you will need satellite view on maps... The boxed area on the map is some kind of enclosure for sheep... The spare ground beside there is where I parked the car... Following that road up the map is where the quad is... Not sure if it's on the left or right side of that road...

Anyway at least you can see how remote it is
