Re: OMG!!!
That's why they want to put rules and regulation on these drones and there owners because of idiots like him
Beside trespassing, I imagine, he probably over the height limit to start off with

Re: OMG!!!
The drone aspect of this was the least troubling.
I do not understand the mentality that allows people to feel entitled to do things like this. I get the risk taking, adrenaline seeker aspect of it (at least to a point). But it's the utter lack of consideration for the consequences to so many other people if things go pear shaped that I don't get. Family and friends, obviously, but beyond them... that security guard could well be wracked with guilt should something happen on his watch, forever altering his life. Is the climber's family the sort that would actually try to sue the company that was developing the site in the event you fell and died or were seriously injured, even though it was utterly your fault? Even if they don't win in the end, you've done something that resulted in making life miserable and unnecessarily costly because you wanted to get a rush and get some cool drone shots? The site would be shut down for who knows how long while an investigation was carried out, impacting many workers and their familes potentially. What little there was of drones involved in this, it might well be enough for some group of government busybodies to glom onto and setup a new set of regs, had something happened, impacting thousands upon thousands of people and perhaps costing millions in compliance costs to both producers and consumers alike.
The utter self-centeredness of these "defiant climbs"... I don't understand it.

Re: OMG!!!
You are quite right Paul however litigation is not quite at that level in the UK yet.
I also think it is more than that. With a platform like Youtube where there is potential to make a lot of money if you get the hits on your video. The interesting thing for me is the comments others are making, as if he is a hero!!
Lot of people with empty lives.

Re: OMG!!!
Sounds like there is some new development with FAA according to AMA. Haven't had a chance to read all of it but didn't sound good.

Re: OMG!!!
What did you hear? Last I heard the FAA was, at least for the moment, acknowledging the court ruling striking down the registration scheme, and issued a mail in form for people to get their registration info removed from the database and to requeest a refund (if they registered after the grace period).

Re: OMG!!!
In the email that I saw from the AMA, about the FAA, there was a form that we can download and request that our info be removed from their database and we could get our $5 registration fee back. Initially, I wanted my $5 back....until I saw the form. This form requested name, address, phone number, and bank account number. The first 3 requested items were ok with me because I think those 3 items were a part of the initial registration anyway. However, the bank account number request....I have a problem with that. The form stated that refunds would be electronically delivered. No.....you can keep my $5. I paid for my registration via Paypal. Keep my $5 because there's no need for the FAA to know my bank info.
I was telling my wife about this form and this whole situation the other day. I jokingly told her that this whole situation was probably a scam to get quick money. Think about this....$5 from hundreds of thousands of people.....ching ching ching. I do hope that's not the case.....but, who knows "for sure"?

Re: OMG!!!
Yeah. Also not sure why they can't do this via an online process just like the registration was. At least the unregistration part of it, at the least.

Re: OMG!!!
I still haven't gone back and dug into it. When I registered I got my $5 back immediately. I can't believe they are letting people unregister. I'm thinking if they do they will bring it back. Flying with an FAA code I feel better knowing I am up front, on file and if some dumb cop hassles me I have credentials.
The plot thickens yet again....
