I have this "Switching Adapter". I need to find another one so that I can cut off the plug for my fpv viewing monitor. I've looked around a bit and haven't found much. Obviously Im looking in the wrong places.

Yep that looks good to me Graham. Although it's 2Amp could still work. What's the wattage of your monitor Derek. If it's over 20 watts I'd get a higher amperage than that one, 3 amp gives you 36 watts

I don't know what the wattage of the TV is but this adapter shows 2.5 amps.

However, all I want to do is cut off the plug and solder a deans plug to it so that I can run it at the field

Thanks Tony! I probably could have been more clear on my "purpose", too, lol.

I just wish that I had one around the house that I could sacrifice, lol. I may just go ahead and snip the one that came with the tv, lol.

Here's a curious question...I do have a few other adapters here that I could just sacrifice for my purpose but....I'm looking at the part that plugs into the wall and one shows 5.5v and 1.6amp (or something like that, the print is really small). If the other plug will plug into my tv, will that work? I just need it to take the power from my 3S pack and run the tv.

I guess I'm just concerned that the plug isn't "good enough" for the power. But....the plug, that goes into the tv is probably real safe. It's the other plug, that goes into the wall that does the conversion. Am I thinking about this correctly?

The 5 volt power adapter won't be any good for tv Derek.... Unless I have this wrong...lol

Well, I just want the part that plugs into the tv. The part that plugs into the wall will get discarded. Can I cut the plug (the round plug) off and use it, regardless of the voltage?

Yes it will be fine D, these are usually rated at 50 volts...

Very cool! So I just need to check my other adapters to see if they plug into the tv. I'm quite sure there are varying diameters. If I can find one that fits, I should be in good shape. Then I'll get things soldered up and I'll do up a bit of video to show you guys my FPV monitor for my spectators (wife, daughter, Dad, etc)

Sounds brill, be interesting to see that. I've got a second RX that's wired up to tv in camper so christine can watch my flights in the warmth...lol

Cut the cord and put a deans in the middle (both sides of the deans). Then you can power it at the field off a battery or whatever and power it off the AC adapter otherwise.

Otherwise, if you take some caliper measurements of that output jack (outer and inner diameter and length of the barrel) I may have a pile of something that will work for you. I bought a bunch of jacks with screw terminals on them that are typically used for CCTV systems. If it's the same size I'll ship you two.
