Planning my mid-life

Post by murankar »

I thought my mid-life was in March but I now realize it was depression. So given the state my life is in I think I am going to plan a poor man's trip to munci next year.

Pack the van and camp out for a few days. I just hope I can renew my ama before price hikes.

I had a quarter-life crisis when I was about 26. I don't remember a mid-life crisis at all. Memory block? I don't think so. Now that I am in retirement...it is all good. I think. I just got my AMA the other day and they gave me next year as a bonus as it is so late in the year. A dollar saved and all that.

Matthias...I didn't make it to IRCHA this year but I will surely be there next year. We'll meet ya there!

Dad...that's cool that you got your AMA for this year and next year. The insurance, alone, is worth the price.

I will try and save now for it. Not sure how much it will cost. If I could do it for under 1000 I think it should be do able . Be better if I can do it for u see 500. If I camp at the field I think it would work.

Matthias; I can't see $1,000 unless you don't bring your own groceries. You should be able to do it for under $500 assuming gas doesn't go up too much.

Derek; I will plan to go next year so keep in touch so we can all meet down there. Derek when you went last did you camp at the IRCHA or off site?

My goal is to finally get a generator. With everything going on right now I think I might be able to front the money for one. It will have multiple purposes not just hobby.

I got a nice hammock today and a dry bag. I need a couple more dry bags and a really good tarp ( not the hardware store special either). Then I'll be set for camping.

I don't know if the AMA has a "camping" charge/fee but, coming from Ohio, I'd imagine you could do it for under $500, also...gas prices depending, lol. But....a lil extra cash (as a cushion) wouldn't hurt.

Ken...the last few years that Jordan and I went to IRCHA, we stayed at a hotel in Anderson. It was about 20 minutes away from the AMA. Last year when we went, we only went for one day because my daughter was getting a bit sun burnt.

Matthias, Ken, and I will save you a spot on the flight line. Maybe even talk to Kyle (he's about an hour north of me) about coming, too.

Actually....Graham....if you could fly into Indianapolis, Indiana...you'd be a short drive to the AMA. I'd meet you at the airport, myself.

I'm up for planning a trip to IRCHA next year. Meet some of the crew. I actually did a Google map route to see how long of a drive it is. Only 9 hours or so. Totally doable.

Someone said it was 4 hours for me. I estimated high just because I don't want to be stuck. If I can get things sorted I should have a generator which will help out. Plus I hope to have a good amount of camping stuff to get through minimally.

If we can get a list of people who are about 75% confident they want to go we should start planning now. Would we be at the main site or one of the other sites?.

Well as you all know, I did not make it to IRCHA this year. I am telling you now that we will be there next year. Paul...it it would be awesome to meet you and Matthias there. Ken has already spoken that he'll plan on it. I'll contact Kyle to check his availability.

Matthias...as for which site...it would probably be one of the off site, but on AMA grounds, camping location. I don't know what the camping cost, if any, would be. I'll contact the AMA and get details.

Hmmm, I wonder how my daughter would handle tent camping lol.

I'll be in my van more than likely. I will have a few things to make it a little comfortable.

I am going to work my butt off to go. It's going to take lots of planning on my part. I will be disappointed if I don't make it. Then I'll be green with envy.
