IRON.... HOT STUFF!

Thought I'd post this shot from work.... Freshly poured iron castings, shells for pumps.. Big ones! Each of these is approximately 17,000-21,000lbs... It'll take about 2 weeks for it to cool... Actually it could be longer.. The cooling period determines the hardness of the iron...Then it'll get machined & painted. There are several we make that are much larger!

We make pumps.. Small - super big ones... Seen the show on TV that shows how the island in Dubai was made to look like a palm tree.. We made the pumps that shot the sand to build it... Huge project... Anyhow... I work for the Georgia Iron Works division of KSB. http://www.ksb.com/KSB-Promise/?view=mo ... sb%20pumps

Lol... U don't have to! We those too! Lol.. we make a roller that we call "tires" or "doughnuts"... They vary in size, but are typically anywhere from 9,000 - 20,000lbs... The outside of those are smooth and round.. Used to crush coal & other minerals.. I'll take a pic of one of them Monday for ya.

Lol... The shell for a pump.. The impeller goes inside that shell.. It'll empty an Olympic swimming pool in a few seconds... It'll suck up holders and spit'm out like its nothing! Pretty interesting the applications our pumps are used for.
