As the title says I've broken my futaba t8j
The screen has gotten smashed so for the moment I can only fly the wing.
So I've done a bit of searching and can't get a screen myself so it would have to go for repair.
So I think I'm going to upgrade to a taranis as I can use all the receivers that I've got in service.

Taranis rocks, there is so much you can do with it, but there is a bit of a learning curve with the software.
A google search for opentx university and a youtube search for R Scott Page will get you well on the way.

Most programming is easier on the PC and you can save as many backups as you want.

That sucks... But it also a good initiative.

Thanks for the advice Stambo.
I opted to order (friday) the version that comes with the x8r receiver which arrived Saturday morning. I got chance to start to set it up for the wing on Saturday night, I followed some of the videos from r Scott page and some by painless360 and between the 2 have got the wing set up with the x8r in D16 mode (16 channels).
At first it was a bit overwhelming but once I got my head around it I don't know how I have lived without it.
I live it so far even though I haven't flown with it yet. I'm hoping to get out tomorrow for first flight test with it.
I'm hoping to get my krieger bound to it this week but that's quite a big job as the frame has got to be stripped down to get to the reciever which is buried in the bottom of the frame under the pdb and naze.

The thing with the open source firmware is that it is so customizable.
Delayed or slow servo's for retracts, all sorts of custom mixes and functions.
You can do all sorts of things with the voice alerts, there are custom voice packs you can download or you can make your own.
Anything you want to do, generally someone else has already done it so you can either download and study their model or just use it if it suits your purpose.
Sooner you get it hooked to the PC the better, so much easier to program and you can cut and paste models.
I think the X series of receivers are model specific too so you cannot try to fly them with the wrong model selected.
As you have probably gathered I am a Taranis fanboy.

I think I've got my head around most of the features, I've installed the amber sound pack and assigned voice alerts to a few features like armed/disarmed and the flight modes.
I've got to programme it for my kreiger 200 so I will have a look at doing that through the pc once I have stripped it down to bind the rx. When I do this I want to update all the firmwares on the quad, blheli and betaflight. I'm running quite old firmware at the moment.

I also suggest voice alert for model names, that way when you turn it on it says the selected model.
Another layer that helps to stop you trying to fly with the wrong model selected.
