Inav Coming Soon!!!

About a month ago, or so...maybe a bit longer, I found a guy on YouTube that was talking about running Inav on an fpv flying wing. I was curious, so I watched a few of his videos and did some other researching on Inav. Turns out that the Inav GUI is insanely similar to the Cleanflight and Betaflight GUI that we all know and is also available as a Chrome App. This guy talks about how it compares greatly to the Eagletree Vector flight controller with GPS but it's 1/5 the price. Features include self level, Horizon Mode, auto launch, RTH, GPS, waypoints missions, and more.
So, I got looking around Banggood (where he recommended getting the Omnibus Betaflight F4 Flight Controller V1 STM32 F405 MCU Integrated with integrated OSD)...found it available, so I ordered it. He also recommended getting the Ublox NEO-M8N Flight Controller GPS with Protective Shell for PIX PX4 Pixhawk but Banggood didn't have that in stock. Fortunately, after a bit of searching, I did find a US distributor that had this unit in stock and for $2 less than Banggood.
So, I spent $24 on the fc. $19 for the GPS unit. He has done up a very thorough setup series that talks about where things get soldered, settings used, etc. I'm super stoked to put this into my 49" FPV wing. I'll have to make up some kind of solid base for the fc to sit on, but that should be rather easy to do.
If you guys would be interested, I'll try to share some installation pics and details.

Funny thing Derek, I have a similar controller on the way that I am planning the same treatment for.
I have bought a Nano Talon after seeing how much room is inside one in a video, probably from the same guy.
Having RTH on an fpv airplane might see me venture back into night flying again, with the appropriate camera off course.
I guess if either of us have any issues we can bounce some ideas back and forth.

Yes...thats the guy! He also has a Facebook group called "Rag the nuts off"...lol, whatever that means. His videos are very well done and he speaks to the "less technical" people.....so i fit right in.
I imagine my GPS unit will be here late this week. I have no idea when Banggood will ship out my F4 board. But....im very much looking forward to it. This new setup gives me the perfect reason to clean up the rats nest of wires that are ziptied in my wing lol.

I got mine too, but I have to learn about custom mixing as there is no existing setup for the Nano Talon.
Matt Ogborne has done it and shared his settings so I just gotta learn how to import them in to Inav on the FC.
I intend to hook up servos and a motor and have it all working before I even think of installing it.

I was talking to a guy on Facebook. He said that he had gotten the same Omnibus F4 board that i ordered. He was advised to flash Betaflight to the board and then flash Inav. When he flashed Inav 1.7.3, his new board was bricked and unresponsive. He said that he was told that flashing Betaflight and then Inav was a "true" way to erase any memory and then be able truly get Inav installed.
Does this make any sense?

I already flashed Inav to mine directly.
I had to use the driver software that was advised but had no issues.
I doubt that the board is fully bricked, he may need to short the boot pins to get it back though.

You said that you had to use the driver software that was advised.....what software was that?
Im off all weekend, so hopefully I'll get to start playing around with the board and make something happen.

I've finally accepted the fact that I can't use my Futaba 6 channel 72mhz transmitter with my Corona Dual Synthesized rx for my Inav Project. I wanted this setup on this wing because I know that I can fly out to 2.5 miles without a radio control issue. The range from this tx/rx combination is just amazing. I also wanted this 72mhz setup because I wanted to be able to use my 1.3ghz video system without the fear of having troubles from my 2.4ghz DX8. But...as I mentioned just a moment ago, my Futaba tx is only 6 channels and only has two position switches. So, it looks like I'll be taking the 1.3ghz video system off my wing, simply flying with 5.8ghz with upgraded antennas, and using my trusty DX8 because it has the 3 position switches.
Maybe I should be looking into getting a Taranis. I am even considering getting that TBS Crossfire system. It's suppose to be on the 900mhz band for radio control, which would mean good long range and I could use my 1.3ghz video system.
It's a good thing that there is plenty of available overtime at work, lol.

I think I just found a solution to my rx problem.
https://www.getfpv.com/spektrum-ar7700- ... te-rx.html
This looks to be a genuine Spektrum 7 channel full range rx with an external satellite rx and is also PPM. The price isn't bad either.
Another option that was suggested to me was this:
https://www.spektrumrc.com/Products/Def ... D=SPM4649T
This seems to be a SerialRX that would be small and easy to install, just like our mini quads. It also says "full range." I just don't know how this would connect to the Omnibus F4 v1 board that I have, whereas the other rx would connect to the SBUS/PPM pins.

You don't really need more than 6 channels Derek, if that 72 Mhz unit is capable of 2.5 miles use it.
Those other RXs you linked are 2.4 so you are unlikely to get that sort of range.
How many switch positions on the 2 aux channels?
If you have a 2 and a 3 position switch it will be fine.

Yeah, thats the unforunate thing. Each of the aux switches are only 2 position switches. One of them would be to arm and disarm the board. That would leave only 1 switch for Horizon mode, rth, auto launch, pass through.
