Scorpion Motor - 8S or not???

I was just looking at the Scorpion HKIII-4020-1350kv helicopter motor. In the first paragraph, it says that this motor would be good for 550 helicotpers on 6S or 8S. Fair enough...then, scroll down into the "Specs" and it says, "Max Lipo Cell............6S".

Soooo.....which is it?

I'm not sure this motor would be good for my project anyway. I think it will be too wide. I'm looking for a motor that I can run 8S on my recently given Trex 500 Pro DFC with a stretch kit and 500mm blades. I've already gotten the Ikon flybarless, 500mm Zeal blades, custom stretch kit, Castle 100amp esc, and I'll be ordering four 4S packs next week. I just need to search out a suitable motor.

Change of plans....I'm going to keep the 500 Pro DFC, as it is. I'm going to convert my Trex 500 flybarred over to the stretch kit, 500mm blades, and 8S lipo.

It has just been suggested to me to check out the KDE 500mx 1350kv motor and to use a 14-15 tooth pinion. A guy on facebook recommended this, so I thought I'd check out the specs.

I have to say, although the motor would run on 6S/7S, I'm not fond of the price tag nor am I fond of the high amps that I see in the specs.

Here's the link to the motor:

It's times like this that I wish my brain wouldn't concoct ideas like this....

Well its a great motor, some would claim better than scorpion. As for the amos, well its a powerful motor.

Derek, before you pull the trigger on anything let me know. I bought a high power KDE motor off someone that I was planning to put into my 550X. Have the high current ESC for it and everything. Don't think I'm going to end up doing the conversion so I could see parting ways with this power system. I'll PM you the details to see if you're interested.

I'd be interested in seeing what you have, Paul. I've spent quite a bit of money on servos and Ikon, so I won't be getting a motor and esc just yet but I'd imagine I'll want the new motor and esc by my birthday in February.
