Yep 80a settings
once again I need help.
I need help in programming yep 80a esc to my 500. I need the timing, brakes, cut off voltage, ecs.... I have information for the 40/45/60 amp yep esc for a 450 but nada for 500. I appreciate the help.

Re: Yep 80a settings
Timing, we need to know which motor to do the calculation.
Brake, none. You never have brake on a heli.
Cut off voltage 3.4.
Heres the best video to check.

Re: Yep 80a settings
Thanks Lee! gives me something to go by. The motor is a Turnigy Typhoon 500. I couldn't find specs on this motor.Lee wrote:Timing, we need to know which motor to do the calculation.

Re: Yep 80a settings
Can you count the magnets inside the motor to give me the pole count?

Re: Yep 80a settings
Ok found out its a 6 pole motor.
The higher the timing the more RPM, more power, but less efficiency.
I would recommend 6º or 12º for that motor.
Heres a little chart to guide you .
Low Timing Advance
Timing Degrees – 5 & 10
Motor Poles – 2 to 4
Expected Performance – Good balance of power and efficiency
Motor Poles – 6 or more
Expected Performance – Best efficiency and run time (lowest power)
Standard Timing Advance
Timing Degrees – 15 & 20
Motor Poles – 6 to 12
Expected Performance – Good balance of power and efficiency
Motor Poles – 14 or more
Expected Performance – Best efficiency and run time (lowest power)
High Timing Advance
Timing Degrees – 25
Motor Poles – 12
Expected Performance – Highest power, less efficiency
Motor Poles – 14 or more
Expected Performance – Good balance of power and efficiency

Re: Yep 80a settings
Thanks again Lee.
That information is very helpful and appreciated. Maybe I can get this 500 in the air already once I figure out my tail servo problem.

Re: Yep 80a settings
No worries.
If you find the motor is getting very hot, then just reduce the timing.
