ESC

Hello there. I'm getting ready to install my 45a yep ESC on to my Tarot 450 DFC. All the time I mount my ESC to the side of my heli. I would like to know if i mount the ESC this time underneath the frame instead of the side, would this be an OK place to do so. I'm ordering gorilla landing skids just to protect the ESC which is going to be under the frame. The reason for this is i thought it might be closer to the COG of the heli. Just a thought. I would like some feed back please, Thanks!

As for the functionality, putting the esc on the belly of the frame won't hurt a thing. Yes, you can probably get it closer to the CG, if that kind of adjustment is needed. I'd just be afraid of the potential for damage in a crash if the esc is on the belly...but you were talking about different landing gear.

In the end, I imagine the decision is ultimately yours. Personally, I would rather have the esc on the side of the frame than on the belly. The esc's on my 450 and 500 are on the sides of the frame. It just makes installation and connection easy. It's not as "clean" but that's a fact that I'm over.

...my two cents..

Side, bottom. Doesn't really matter.
You can crash it on its side just as easily as on its belly.
So sods law will mean you'll crash it in which ever position the ESC is :D LOL

Personally, I hate the asymmetry of having it on the side.

Hey Lee and Derek, Thanks. I agree with you Lee, A crash is a crash, is a crash! It can't hurt to try, unless i crash! LOL

Hey all. I have a Yep 45a ESC that one of the motor wires came diconnected from the ESC unit it self. I would like to know if it's possible to solder this wire back to the ESC or should i be in the market for a new ESC? I appreciate your help, thank you.

Can you possibly post a picture or video of the disconnected wire? If the wire has simply come disconnected from the solder pad on the ESC, then it should be very simple to resolder the wire to the pad.

Hey Derek and everyone. Here's a pic of my ESC with the wire disconnected. It's a little tight to solder or can it be solder?

Yeah cml001, I'm not having to much luck right now. I don't want to damage the board. Nice mounting job and canopy modification cml001. I'm going to keep mounting mine underneath the frame where the skids are. Seems to work for me. I'm going to keep on soldering again but looks like time for a new ESC if I'm not happy with the result, will see.

Wow thats a huge ESC for such a small bird. I; like Lee, hate to put the ESC on the side. I know on the 450 Pro the esc is supposed to go under the battery tray inside the frames.

Hey murankar. Your right about the ESC on the 450 Pro suppose to go under the tray and inside the frame. The Yep 40a fits fine but i just happen to have a 45a Yep " Use too" and that doesn't fit inside the frame unless i do some cutting and I'm not to thrill about that. So mounting underneath works for me.

Well I'm in luck. One of the members "superbad" just happen to have a 45a Yep for sale. Not no more! Thanks superbad. I didn't have good luck soldering the wire but purchasing a ESC, i did.

Hey Dog! If you are having troubles with the soldering, I have a Yep 45 esc that I'm not using. I bought it for my Trex 450 and never used it. I bought the Castle ICE 50 and put the Yep 45 esc aside. If you want it, it's yours!

That's what she said! Lol.. It's great bruh! Everything comes down cool... The old align ESC would come down hot.. Motor & packs too.. With this ESC everthing stays cool. Works like a champ!
