DX6i modes

Post by DOG »

Hey everyone. On my Tarot 450 DFC I change motor from 3550Kv to 3850Kv. My rpm now doesn't change when I switch from normal to stunt mode. I still have my 12.5 +/- degrees on my blades in stunt mode. When it comes to landing, the rpm doesn't decrease either. My pitch curves are 45/47.5/50/75/100 normal, 0/25/50/75/100 stunt. Can anyone help me out? Thanks in advance. :)

What are your throttle curves? When you go on the menu and switch to IU can you see a change on the screen?

What switch do you have set for IU? You can view it on monitor :)

Thanks danhampson. I have calibrated the esc but not with the wire off. I'm going to give that a try.

Yes I did re-calibrating with the motor wires on and off "Motor wire on both times" I don't know, I'm just going to fly like it is and just learn how to land with higher rpm til I figure out what went wrong. If anything I will go back to my old motor and see what happens. Thanks again danhampson.

 Yes it does danhampson. Please tell me it's not that! Can it be the esc start up to high. On the hobbywing programming card has Normal/soft/very soft. On my yep esc has start up mode at slow/med/fast. I have it at normal mode on the Hobbywing esc but on the yep esc I had it on med start. Don't know if that will help.

Well no luck on changing start up mode. I did switch mode from normal to soft and I like the soft mode better so I left it on soft.

This is an esc thing and not gyro thing. Only thing I can think of is the governor may not be set right if it is set.

It should be off by default. Trying to think of what might cause this. I am going to run through a bunch of things to check. I know some of this you have. Just want to make sure I have an almost complete list of things.

Starting at the beginning of the system you have your packs. Are the packs correct for the motor? I would say yes if so then look at the esc. In the esc are the motor parameters correct, I.e. pwm, frequency, pole counts and the such. Is the esc calibrated for the TX? Finally the motor. Is the motor already maxed out on rpm before going into IU1?

Next step is the radio. Are the curves correct? Are the curves on the right switch? Is the throttle channel showing full movement in the output test screen?

This is not complete but should get you thinking in the right direction.

Hey murankar, yes all the settings are the same. The only thing I did was change motor from 3550Kv to 3850 Kv. You do have a point there about the esc. With this esc I have in it now I cant change P/I, freguency, pmw or anything like that. I think I'm going back to the old motor and see what happens. If the rpm doesn't change from normal to stunt then must be the ESC, maybe. Danhampson also suggested that it could be the AR7200BX because that's the one that was smoking. The rpm is max out before IU1 is switch on. I just finished burning up 6 batteries just the way she is and no problems at all beside landing at high rpms. I getting use to it now.

My thinking is that the only things to change are the motor (shouldnt make a difference other than changing the head speed) and the BX blowing smoke, at the end of the day the BX sends the throttle signal to the esc. I would use great caution flying this bird, i personally

Ive got a scorpion commander 90amp esc that blew smoke it still works, it just doesnt have softstart now, i just use it for its bec.

I dont know BX but does it have a gov and if it does is it set up? When ive set the gov up on my brain/ikon i have to tell it the gear ratio for the gov to work correctly

Wasn't think about the throttle port. Sorry bout that. Yes something could be messed up there. I would swap out the gyro first and see if it works like it should. That's easier than doing a motor. Plus if it is the throttle port then you'll know and won't have to change the motor.

Thank you very much for everyones help. I do have another AR that I will change out to see if it's that. Just strange how it was working fine til I change the motor. Perhaps the AR throttle port finally decided not to work after installing the new motor. I don't know but this hobby keeps my mind active and confuse at the same time.

Default for the HW ESC is GOV on.
You need to switch it to Gov off, if you are using throttle curves Dog.

Thanks Lee. Yes I'm using throttle curves and my Gov. Is on off. Do you think maybe it's the timing? Their default is Low. It goes Low/med/high. My Yep had numbers I can work with. The HW doesn't.
