Okay real quick I just got the Gaui off the skids under its own power, yes something close to flying. Now I have the HB800 set to Sport settings. With that said will the TX be used to adjust tail gain or will the pots on the unit adjust the tail gain? I do have the gains set in the radio and when I flip the switch the light changes from blue to red or red to blue. I am not sure what each light color means, is red = HH and blue = Rate. I also have D/R and Expo programmed in so will that effect the gyro if it is set to sport? I went into the radio and adjusted the tail gains and saw no improvement. I have a fast wag witch is conducive to high gains.
With the real quick hovers i did, testing the tail gain, it felt al better than it did on the Savox / ZYX-S setup I had. Keep in mind i did not do anything other than get it in the air and check the tail gain.

You can adjust the tail gain in the pot.Purple rate / blue HH

Thank you for that. Just before I left for Overtime work I zeroed the gains to center on the gyro. I will make an attempt again maybe tomorrow. I was using my dead gens ace packs for now. I want to get it close before I thaw my pykse packs.

Re: BeastX , Hobbymate HB800 and variants.
I had a similar issue with mine. From the factory they come in the 12 o,clock position. I put my tail back to that and worked from there:)

Re: BeastX , Hobbymate HB800 and variants.
To see if its in HH mode just move the tail and see if the rudder moves and stays to counter the movement or if its in rate mode it will not move
Been so long sense I used that thing I cant recall all what set up in it
I do know in the parameters for the tail your going to want it on Blue flashing I Think it is already set there from when it was in my 150x
I would take the D/R and expo out of your Radio and fly it just on the sport set up

Re: BeastX , Hobbymate HB800 and variants.
I factory reset the gyro. I was having a setup issue with swash travel limits for 12° of pitch. Once reset the pitch was set just fine.
Are the gains backwards on this model? I read they were.

Re: BeastX , Hobbymate HB800 and variants.
As Jesse said when using a preset flight character mode don't use expo or d/r in the tx, it will screwy with the gyro as to what it sees and expects to see from the tx

With the gain it's done though the transmitter,
pot 1 is cyclic gain,
pot 2 is cyclic feed fwd,
pot 3 is tail dynamic
have all these pots in the 9 o'clock position to start with,
I think gyro gain is channel 5 in the radio and as graham said purple is rate blue or blue flash is HH

Yeah gyro gain is on 5. I just might get a flight in just before I go to bed. I really want to fly now that it flies. Let's see what time the FAM leaves for work and school.

Re: BeastX , Hobbymate HB800 and variants.
I got the tail almost locked in on normal mode with the dead packs. Power delivery is not all that great but is enough to get the head up to full power. I zeroed out the expo and d/r in the TX and have the gyro gain program set to medium. My TX gain is about 57% or somewhere around there. My TX gain scale is a -100 - 100 scale and have it at 27. I think its a little low but given the broad range its about where I think it should be.
The head seemed solid but then again I cant really work these packs. I did not see any bobbles while in a hove with some quick jabs of the collective. I think I might be able to jump up the gains a tad. I had some minor drifting which required some stick correction, given the close proximity of the ground this should be expected. I am testing in my driveway which has some lower hanging braches and dont want to hit them. On my next days off I just may go to the soccer field and see whats up. By then I just may have the Pulse packs out of the carbonite. Who knows they my have delusions of grandeur (cheap joke if you get the reference).
I am thinking an issue I had with the ZYX-S are the d/r expo settings. I had these programmed in my radio and the gyro has the same pre sets as the BeastX, Sport, pro, extreme etc., etc., etc. Some other issues I may have had will surface as I learn more about the fbl stuff.
