MinimOSD on plane

I've seen many videos of how to install a MinimOSD on plane and multirotors that use a flight controller. Can I put the MinimOSD on an fpv plane that has no flight controller?

It uses flight controller data to feed the displays, no?

I have found a couple of "how-to" videos on using the MinimOSD without a flight controller. I'll share a few of the videos soon and if I can get it sorted on my plane, I'll surely share what I did.
I did find a video that talks about setting up the MinimOSD as a standalone. This seems like it will work.

I'm thinking that I'd like to have this set up in my Skyfun FPV.

Well, it still needs a GPS or a flight controller to get most of the info in there. You may be able to monitor rx voltage without it, but otherwise heading, altitude, speed, etc. will not fill in.

Yes, I will still need a GPS. I'm still hunting around for an inexpensive little unit.
