Can I simply buy just another vtx???

Ok you FPV'ers...
I have a 1.3ghz video system and it works very well. Quite happy with it. However, the problem is that I have "a" (singular) video system. I just have the one vtx and one vrx and one camera. I'd like to have the ability to have FPV on another model. Can I simply just buy another vtx and camera for the second model and then still use the "one" vrx and ground station that I already have? I can't see why this would be a problem but I wanted to ask, just to be sure.

Makes sense mate, your not going to have both txv's on at the same time. The idea isn't that different to my Bluetooth speakers, can have multiple transmitters to it to listen to the music from, but only one at a time..

Right! That's kinda the way I was thinking about it, too. It makes sense, to me, that I could have just the one vrx and multiple vtx's.

These are the vtx and vrx that I have:
VTX -

VRX -

The camera that I have isn't offered anymore.
I have these antennas -

I also have a 5 turn helical antenna that I bought from Tasajara on RCH. He gave me a very good deal!

The reason I asked is Lee has built me a quad 250 size and I'm thinking of putting fpv on it next year. Now 1.8ghz is better than 5.8 as it will penetrate through walls, trees etc better than 5.8. So it interested me somewhat..I'll check those links you posted now

As long as you buy the same frequency Derek you will be fine with just another video tx and camera.
Obviously make sure you get another aerial the same as your current system uses as the VTX will likely come with one of those little whip things.

Yep you can buy as many 1.3Ghz VTXs and cameras as you want, as long as they are compatible with the RX.

An FPV quad is one of the reasons why I was asking about this. I see videos, nearly everyday, of someone on Youtube flying or racing around with an FPV quad and it just looks like awesome fun. As far as the frequency....I wanted the 5.8ghz because the picture quality would be clearer but I decided to buy the 1.3ghz because I could fly further away and have the plus of the object penetration. I bought my stuff from Stone Blue Airlines. I know the guy, personally, and he's absolutely fantastic with customer service. I always have questions for him and he always responds back with an answer that I understand.

Thanks buddy! I appreciate your two cents. Not sure that I'd need to buy another set of antenna's, if I could just use, and swap over, the antenna from one craft to another.

Thanks Lee! So....I guess I'll just buy the same vrx as the one that I already have and life should be good. Very cool!!!

There's always drawbacks with radio gear of some kind... Your pretty close to GPS frequencies there too at 1.3ghz.. Yes I've seen some of the vids with quads and fpv gear, look great fun, just watch some of URI's vids, he has fun... When I get my quad off Lee I'll eventually get fpv gear for it..

those little 250 quads look hilariously fun. I think my first quad is going to be in the 450 range....but I'm definitely happy to hear that I just have to buy more vtx's and cameras instead of the whole set.

Nice one, the bigger they are the harder they fall... Haha. Mine is a 250 size...
Yes that's good news Derek..

The beauty of the 250 size is durability.
When you fly proximity like I and many others do, a crash is inevitable.
With a 250 carbon frame the only things that regularly break are props at about $5 a full set.
I can live with this.
With my larger quads a crash will generally mean a damaged frame or arms, which not only costs money for replacement parts but delay if you don't already have them.
Since building my 250, the other aircraft have been pretty much grounded apart from the odd FPV AXN flight.
They are just that much fun.

hmmm, perhaps I should reconsider the size of the quad that I'm wanting. A 250 would be easier to store and transport, as well.
Let me ask you this....do multi rotors fly any better or worse based on their size? For example, my Trex 600 flies better and easier than my 450. Is the same true for multi rotors?

My 250 is just as easy to fly as my QAV500.
I would recommend the 250 as well Derek.
My first one hit the deck at full tilt vertically. Only broke the two front props

They are so much fun, and cheap to run too.

well then....it sounds like the 250 is gonna be quite good! Thanks Lee!
Now, I just need to decide if I want to invest a few dollars into a 250 quad + FPV (which I'd really like to join the FPV Quad fliers) or do I want to keep saving for a 700 helicopter (which I also want in such a bad way, lol).

Hard decision that one Derek, but going off YT vids and what the guys on here are saying, I'd get the quad... Lots of fun to be had, and lots of new experiences. Cheap to repair only needing blades in most crashes...and their cheap... Can't wait till I get my quad off Lee..
