Broken 600mW VTX :(

Had a little crash yesterday with my mini quad into the grass.
Don't know how it could have happened, but it broke off my Antenna
This will also probably have fried the VTX, as they don't like to have power with no antenna.
It was power for about 15mins while I was trying to find the quad.
No sure if its fixable. Waiting for an answer from ImmersionRC.

I did this to my Immersion 600, in fact 2 of them.
A friend has soldered a short pigtail with the connector on the end on one so I can remote mount the antenna on it.
I don't have it back yet but he says it seems to work fine.
I will let you know how it goes.

I do hear what he is saying about running it without an antenna, it can do damage to the electronics.
Mine ran without for probably a couple of minutes and I still had video so I am hopeful that range won't be reduced.

I spoke to a guy that lost his antenna for 10 mins with power.
His unit dropped from 600mW to 100mW
@Graham,
Glad I got one that worked from new then

Bummer. Cooked something. Is it worth repairing or just going to get a new one?

I have one of these I will be selling soon. Exact same one. If shipping isn't crazy from US to Spain might be worthwhile.
I purchased a 1500mW TX during the black Friday sale.

Let me know Mike. I may be interested. If the postage is not too steep.

I've been investigating what could be wrong with this, there's an amplifier chip in it, the HMC406. Basically a high frequency transistor amp... This is probably what's blown on it. It's a small surface mount chip, would be simple to replace if you can solder smd parts. Which I do everyday.... Just need to source them now...

I just shipped something to the UK from NY. Not too bad. About $10-12 for a fist full of servos. I had to oversell the weight because of the customs form needing individual weight on each item and I could't use fractions of an oz. IF I could have had the true weight on there (2oz instead of 5) it would have only been $8ish I think.
