5.8ghz video system search

I've gotten very fond of the idea of getting the 5.8ghz module for my Fatshark Dominators. I've done some looking around and I see the prices for the complete set (camera, vtx, vrx, wires, etc.) and I've also see that I can get the Fatshark Module for $43.00. I think I've heard that ImmersionRC and Fatsharks and Immersion are compatible. Is this right?

This is the setup that I'm looking at:

RMRC-480 Camera with OSD
ImmersionRC 600mW Transmitter
ImmersionRC Uno Receiver
Fat Shark SpiroNet Antennas (RHCP)
450mAh 3s batteries (2)
Light weight cables for transmitter, camera, and receiver!

This setup, from ReadyMadeRC, is about $250

...and...for the camera....do I want PAL or NTSC?

Why are you getting the Uno RX if you are going to be using the Dominator Module Derek?
Are you going to run a separate LDC screen?

Yes, I want the capability for a viewing screen so that my wife can see what I see while I'm wearing my Fatsharks.

Fatsharks have video out, you could hook that to a screen and save some money. :)
Fatshark is made by Immersion RC.
Yes they are compatible.

Fatsharks have video out??? I guess I better look at mine closer, lol

Fatshark is made by Immersion RC??? I did not know that, lol

Thanks for that, Stambo! So, as long as I get "Fatshark" or "ImmersionRC" stuff, I'll be happy.

I was just looking at cameras again and it brought up another question...imagine that, lol

I see cameras that are PAL and NTSC. What's the difference and which should I be looking for to put on my quad?

Or, does it matter?

NTSC and PAL are two types of color encoding systems that affect the visual quality of content viewed on analog televisions and, to a much smaller degree, content viewed on HDTVs. While NTSC delivers a frame rate of 30 frames per second (fps) at an aspect ratio of 720x480, PAL uses a frame rate of 25 fps and a 720x576 aspect ratio. The PAL system offers automated color correction compared to NTSC's manual color correction. The NTSC standard is popular in places like the U.S. and Japan, while PAL is more common in countries such as the UK, Australia, and Sweden.
There is a third standard, called SECAM (Sequential Couleur Avec Memoire or Sequential Color with Memory), that is used in Eastern Europe and France

As for the vtx, I see that there is a 600mw and 400mw available. Which should I be looking at for my mini quad?

Well, I was going to go order the FPV gear for my mini quad but ReadymadeRC is out of the 600mw vtx. The only other option, from them, would be a 250mw vtx. Not an acceptable alternative! I'll have to look around at some other websites. GetFPV has some options but I was hoping to get "the whole package" in one.

I am running the Fatshark 250mw at the moment (I broke the 600) and range/reception do not seem to be an issue.
I will get another 600 or maybe the new 700 eventually as funds allow.

I'm also running the 250mw, I've personally been upto about 350 meters out and had no problems with reception, glitching. I've been using some cheap cp antenna with this setup.

I reckon at a guess I would have been out to about 700m with no obstacles.

This has gotten a bit frustrating. I'm trying to find a 5.8ghz video system with a 600mw vtx, video rx, all the necessary wires, and a camera. The last several places that I've looked at are ALL backordered or out of stock. WOW!!! Hobby King has theirs in stock but I'm not sure that I wanna buy something like this from HK. I'd really rather order this system from somewhere here in the states that would have customer service.

The search continues...

That was my thought Derek, ended up paying a bit more to get mine from the UK but the shop I went to I buy a lot from, and CS is brilliant

I just found a different website, www.hobbywireless.com, that has a 5.8ghz 400mw system for sale. For the vtx, vrx, cables, camera, and Blue Beam antennas, it's about $229 plus shipping and I'd get a free t-shirt because my order is would be over $150.

So....the question is this guys....would I be happy with the 400mw instead of the, unavailable, 600mw system? Or should I just hold out so that I could get the 600mw system??
