Battery power for a 250 quad

Post by KevG »

Guys while I put the quad together can I run 2 3s 850's in parallel to give me a 1700 battery,

I have 8 of these that I am currently using for my 250 dfc and was wondering if this would be ok, until I can see what the best size battery is going to be for me,

Great thanks Lee,

What battery do you recon would be the best, 1300 or 1800's

Depends on what you want, performance or flight times.
A smaller high C battery will give you greater performance and agility at the cost of flight time.
A larger battery will give you longer flight times to a point.
I find the sweet spot for me to be around 1800, any bigger and the craft gets too sluggish at very little gain in flight time.
When I first started I was getting about 9 minutes from my 1800 3s 35c Zippy compacts.
That has now reduced to 7 minutes with more aggressive and faster flying.
With a lighter battery the craft is more agile, but currently for me that is not an issue as my piloting skills are not yet good enough to push my craft anywhere near its limits.

I get between 5.30 and 7 mins on the 1500s.
The weight is bang on for me. I think the 1800 would be the max.

I'm running 2200's at the moment it feels a bit on the heavy side. And will be replacing them soon with lighter packs

What kind of beeper are you guys talking about? My quad is on it's way to the states and I'm writing up an electronics list right now. I'd like to make sure that I have all that I should need before I start the build. Any links would be very helpful :D

Lee uses a lost signal alarm go to Hobbyking and type lost model alarm,

Or you can use a buzzer activated by a spare channel or of the flight controller, again go to Hobyking and type in buzzer

KK2 beeper from HK is perfect. With the Naze32 flight board you plug it in direct.
You can still program a switch to set it going.
