Sounds good, Tony! You can do this two ways...

1. simply increase your Normal Mode curve to 0,40,85,85,85. This way you won't even have to worry about flipping the Stunt Mode switch.

2. You can leave your Normal Mode curve as 0,40,80,80,80 and set your Stunt Mode curve to 0,40,85,85,85. This way when you do flip the switch, you can still bring the helicopter down.

Most of us will run a flat curve for our Stunt Modes (85,85,85,85,85) but if you did this, you would then have 85% throttle below mid stick...and I dont think you are wanting that.

Good thinking Derek, do you think I should change pitch curve for now on IU to same as normal?

I don't get it.. U loose power in the negative with that.. And it's still "normal" mode.. Nothing would change when u flick the switch.

My 450 is the only one w a normal mode.. I have it set as follows
Normal
Pitch curve: 41, 45, 50, 75, 100
Throttle curve: 0, 30, 30, 30, 30 (governed)
0, 45, 80, 80, 80 (un-governed)
Idle 1
Pitch curve: 0, 25, 50, 75, 100
Throttle curve: 100, 100, 100, 100, 100 (governed)
95, 92.5, 90, 92.5, 95 (un-governed)
That's how I've done it... Keeps the transition between normal & idle up smooth on the throttle in non-gov'd situations.. Use soft start. Use the ramp control in the ESC. The "V" curve compensates for head loading on the collective when not using the gov.

I've never used IU yet Clay, so no negative pitch. I seem to lose power when gaining altitude quickly. I just need to find out if it's because of a low HS or a underpowered motor. Today I'll increase throttle curves to see if that makes any difference...

Guys can we go to this thread to talk about underpower, as it's discussed there...

If ur not governed... Try the "v" curve.. It's add more power as u add load. Or u could continue up w throttle as the pitch increases..

at last ive got this video of todays flight published... 4th attempt, done my head in.

this is the result of increased HS, normal at 85% max, and IU at 95% max

still think its underpowered a bit, but that might be because i watch so many big birds flying around with total ease...lol, excuse the jumpy vid and me babbling on... lol

Yeah I hear it drop a little when u add collective (load).. Couple possible factors.. Battery being the first to come to mind. Is the pack in good shape? What C rating is the pack? While I know there is much debate on C ratings... I personally went from a bunch of 25-30C packs that I had used for planes to 45C... HUGE difference! So think about ur packs... When u flicked to idle up it was much better I agree.. If u r not gonna use gov mode then I would definitely use a "V" curve... It's helps ur bog a lot.. All in all doesn't sound horrible... I'd fly the piss out of it! Flick her idle & keep her there.. Have fun with it!

Thanks Clay, fly the piss out of it... Haha, like it.. The lipos are brand new, only on there third charge cycle now. They are rated at 2200mahr at 25C. I'll have to get used to IU, I'll change the expo a bit as cyclic is hard to get used to being so sensitive... I like docile, bit like me... Haha

Thanks mate

Kool.. Ull get used to it. Next pack purchase consider upping the C rating.... Upward of 45C is not warranted... But IMO 25 is pretty low. Try the "V" too.. Think ull like it.

I'll order a bigger C rated battery tomorrow to try it. Initial concern would be CoG with a bigger pack, but I'll give it a go....I've already changed to your V curve so that's something to try tomorrow if I can get out of work whilst it light... Thanks for your help Clay, appreciated.

I honestly couldn't tell u anything about those... I've been using Pulse packs for almost 2 years now... Turnigy packs that I had prior puff'd and just weren't lasting long... So I looked around at prices & reviews on several brands... Took the middle of the road and ended up w Pulse... Not the cheapest.. Not the most expensive .. Gotta tell ya.. I love them! Have yet to have one swell or die on me.. IRs are still great on the first one I bought... So I know they are not cheap.. Definitly plenty out there more expensive... But given the quality and the longevity of these packs.. I'd say they are the same price as cheaper packs on the long run. For a heli.. I wouldn't go any less than a 45C on any pack. Now this is all my personal expierience and view.. Really subjective in a lot of people's opinion about packs. I'm not a tech guy.. Paul had us all beat on that front so he may have a good word on this topic. My answer... Spring the extra for the Pulse... Just get one.. If u don't like it, I'll buy it off ya! I know ull like it!

The flight video was great, Tony! Very nice job! I've got some comments for you. I'm going to leave them in your other thread since this is suppose to be for your flight log. I enjoyed the couple of piro's, too. Nice flying!!!
