That bird is extremely frustrating Derek, you must be banging your head off a brick wall by now.. Do the cyclic servos work ok when it's spinning up. Can you try a different tail servo, I'm guessing any servo would do as a test. No need to get it airborne... Thinking out loud here mind, probably things I would do..

Its either going to be the bec or the gyro at this point. If I had to pick at this point I would lean more towards the gyro. If you are drawing that many amps their is a greater chance for voltage sag. With that said, if I am right on this then the RX could brown out which should throw an error code if the esc has error detection. Telemetry would tell you what's going on but why spend that kind of money for one project. Another thing I just thought of is the voltage bus on the RX. If thus has been compromised then the lack of power output could cause a lack of power to the tail servo. Again telemitry could key us in to the issue.


All I can say now is electrical. The mechanical has been gone through repeatedly. Conclusion is either bec, RX or gyro.

If you have telemitry on your dx8 the I would swap out rx units and test it on the dx8 and see what comes up.

I had suggested a power issue a while ago URI but I think Derek has checked it, I thought the BEC just wasn't delivering the current to the servo under load, hence my reason to see if cyclic servos worked ok under load... It's a nightmare for sure..

Its electrical, he has done everything possible mechanically. If its not electrical then its signal.

After running though the logic test that's really all that's left. If he wants to check signal thriw on a new RX and run it on the dx8. If he does and the problem is solved then its still one of two things either a bad voltage bus on the RX or its signal.

It's a bizarre one it looks like the correction direction is wrong but I know that you have checked that.

Are the servo gears ok?

Yep....servo gears are smooth.

what do you mean, "bad voltage bus"? The only thing that I know about "buses" are those big yellow things that use to take me to school when I was younger, lol.

The voltage bus is basically the power distribution in the RX.

I don't think the RX is the issue but its still a possibility. Mini vbar is prone to this issue that's way it popped in my head as a possible cause. I am thinking bec or gyro. I have an Assan GA250 that I could send if you want to rule that out. I could never get it working but that was at the beginning of my hobby and did not have my setup right.

The Eflight G210 is the gyro that came with the helicopter. Dustin noticed that the gyro that he had on the helicopter had a broken pot. Tony was kind enough to send Dustin a replacement G210 gyro that Tony wasn't using anymore. Tony was quite confident that the gyro was in working order when he sent it to Dustin.

I guess I've gotten to the point that I should replace the rx and see what happens and replace the gyro and see what happens. I can take one of my Spektrum rx's off one of my planes, temporarily of course, lol, and I can try that. I don't have another Heading Hold gyro to try. Matthias, if you could send me that gyro, I'd be curious to try it out. I would certainly be sure to send it back to you.

Friday is my earliest day I can send it. I am working 0630 to 1830 for the next 2 days so getting to the PO is going to be tough.

In the mean time try the RX and see what happens. It aucks you sold the telemitry modual. The only thhingbi can think of is try to swap an ESC if you have one.

I wish I knew of a way to get data without telemitry.

lol...after this turmoil is solved, I'm actually hoping for no more serious issues for a while, lol.

I just want to be able to plug Part A into Part B and have it all work, lol.

I've spoken with Dustin and I've told him that I'm going to order a new esc and an external bec. I have an rx here that I can use for testing. I do have other esc's but one of them is a 120amp HV Castle, another is a 100amp Hobbywing, and several esc's under 35amps. I use to have a YEP 45 but I can't find it.

Dustin has a GP780 gyro that he bought. He's going to send that to me. So...I'll change out the rx, first, since i have one to play with. Then when the new ESC and BEC get here, we'll try those.
