Dan's Falcon Evo flight log.

Heres the maiden flight (LOS) of my falcon evo. It was a beautiful morning and the wind seemed to be around the 8mph mark when i went out this morning, so i decided that today was the day to maiden my fpv wing.
I went to my local field for the maiden and when i got there the wind was still 8mph but gusting around 15mph, not ideal conditions for a maiden but still flyable.
So heres the video, its the first time i have hand launched a model, and the first time ive flown a wing. The ride is a bit bumpy due to the wind and my hand launch skills need some work.

I didnt seem to need to make any adjustments to trim the model, it seems to fly straight and level at just below half throttle
Ive very happy with this setup so far and cant wait to FPV it.

Flys great, now do some stuff.
At 0:38 is that an aircraft in the sky, careful you'll be the cause of another near miss.
If the weather permits, I will have another go at launching my wing on the weekend.
After helping Derek figure out the Naze on his wing, I decided to stick one on mine and see if it helps.
It may be able to do what I have not been able to, help keep this thing in the air.

yeah it was fun, i wish i could have shot footage from my perspective it looks awesome in the air, the black an yellow make it really visible.

Funny you should say that, ive been thinking about how much better the wing would have coped with the wind if it has some form of stablization on.
Ive gone through my parts bin and found a flip32 (naze acro) to play with.
it should be really easy install, just a small rewiring job.

Got to do the electronic maiden of my wing today, after yesterdays bad luck.
My gains are a bit high and level needs to adjusted a touch but it flew pretty well

That was REALLY good, Dan! Very nice job! I think you're gonna have a great time with this wing.

thanks Derek. ive been out today and sorted my launch issues out, ive set a throttle curve on a switch so position 0 is normal 0,25,50,75,100 and position 1 is 50,50,50,75,100. So to launch i arm the FC flick the throttle curve switch, giving me 50% throttle and then give it a good throw then once stable i switch back to a normal throttle curve and fly away (not dji style). Using this method i have had 1 in 10 launch failure where as trying to launch with a normal throttle curve i was getting a 2 in 3 failure.
I also reduced the PIDs by a 1/3 and it seems to have sorted a lot of the bounce out, it was much more windy today and there was little to no oscillation at speed or in turns. Im hoping to get out tomorrow for an FPV maiden.

ive been doing some more work on my PIDS today and also the first test of alt/pos hold. My PIDS are getting better, alt/pos hold seemed to be working but the circle it was going to take was massive, ive posted in the inav thread at RCG leaving a dump file, log and the video in this post in hope of getting some advice from the developers.

That's interesting that you're using different throttle curves for a plane. But...it sounds like a viable solution and it sounds like it's working for you. The flights look great! The weather here is just insane. It's not real cold but the winds are gusting to 40mph. I could go out and fly a boat anchor today, lol.

I was finding that i was bumping the throttle alot while trying to launch so it just made sense to me to have the throttle locked a speed that would get it in the air.

one of the devs has done a transcription of the log for the aborted position hold flights
the light green traces on the map are when the wing is in PH mode

some more testing of position hold testing, this flight it worked much better apart from the downwind leg.

i got out for some testing today with some new code and flight pids. position hold is working much better, it gave me the confidence to slip the goggles on and have my first fpv flight, the only issue i had was that i forgot to hit record on the yi camera and unplugged the goggles before i stopped the dvr so ive not got any footage of the fpv session.
The flight pid tuning is coming along nicely. another couple of sessions and i think that i will have them down.
Heres a trascription of the blackbox log showing my position hold traces.
