Both quads, minor damage to Scorpion just props, but more concerning was the fact it fell out of the sky, video will show:) Hit a post on take off with Nighthawk again props, but one motor not spinning correctly, further investigation in the morning:)

Ouch. It was shutting down entirely, not just one motor. Brown out? Maybe the battery was getting drawn down and under high load it was killing your rx?

Yes definitely shut down, going to check the wiring when i get up in the morning:) 2.33 am here:) Possibly a brown out, never thought of that:)

It went out, came back, went out again, came back again, etc. Has to be either a bad connection or a load induced brown out.

Thanks for the tips Paul:) I have had a thought, could it be a bad PDB board? Going to check this also:) It was like power kept coming on and off. Will do some low level LOS hovers to test it:)

From the video It sounds like a brownout from the beeps clean flight was making. Is your bec power stable. I had one that was great on the bench but as soon as the throttle got to a certain point the bec would cut out, it was very frustrating to track down.

Might be, but if it were (just as if it were a frayed wire or something) I'd be expecting it to happen intermittently throughout flight, even under hover and light load. In the video it started a couple minutes into the flight when you did a rapid climb (high load) and it recurred a couple of times as it was coming down, each time under obviously severe motor loads. To me that's saying either a cold solder on the battery/main connection, the battery has a high IR cell or two and is on the way out, or the battery is simply underrated for the power demands of the quad under high loads. If it was cold and the battery wasn't warmed in a pocket or something before hand that can also drastically reduce discharge rating.

Dan's idea on the BEC cutting out under load is a good possibility too. That one you can also bench test by strapping the quad down and running it up with some multimeter leads clipped or soldered on, and taped down out of the way of the props! Unfortunately if it is a drain/load issue, you won't be able to induce it without the props on there.

Thanks for the pointers guys:) I will check them out this week when i am away from home

I did a flight today twice and it flew well on the second flight and i did some extreme angles with it and it held out:)

I've not had a brown out, that I know of, so I can't comment much on that. To me, in the video, it sounded like a "power" issue. BEC or PDB is where I'd start.

It was suggested to me to power up to half throttle and switch TX off to see what happens when signal is lost, guess what??
Propellers started acting erratically, one more powerful than the rest and it started beeping just like the video??
Looks like loss of signal caused my crash:(
Unless you know better??

Time for a proper range test.
