Derek's HK Skyfun FPV Flight Log

Dad and I don't have video from the maiden flight. It wasn't the most perfect maiden flight but it did end without a crash and zero damage. Life is good!
Here is a short video of the second LOS flight test. Although we didn't get the launch on video, because Dad was my launcher and cameraman, lol, we got some decent video of the plane flying pretty well. I am even visited by a curious hawk. On the landing, I shut the throttle off and just glide down. It's a real smooth glide until I flare just a bit too much and the plane flips over, ha ha ha. No damage!

Im gonna do a couple more los flights, trying to smooth things out a bit and make sure its as trimmed as can be. Then, I'll drop the goggles. If the weather cooperates, I may be able to do all the above in the same outing.

Hold up a minute Derek, just how many aircraft do you have?
I'd like to see you take a pic with all of them in it, I bet they don't all fit.
All I can say is your wife must be a keeper to let you have so many toys.

You'll get it next time, that's for sure.

I very much expected the worst....busted plane, broken Mobius, tore up video system...but no....the plane landed on it's belly (slightly nose first), which protected a lot of the plane. Thankfully, everything survived and is still working properly. Cool!

What happened Derek?
It looked like a momentary disconnect between the ears.

Well, I'll admit that I did lose orientation but not until it double rolled on me. I had two screws holding the motor to the mount. One of the screws is missing and the hole that the screw was in is now large enough that a replacement screw won't go back into. So, I'll need to tear the motor down and then drill and tap all new holes so that they match. I'm gonna set this 2200kv motor aside and I'm going to test a 1700kv motor with an 8" prop next time out.
Thankfully, all the electronics dried out well with my air compressor and everything is working properly....including the Mobius cam.

So you were flying LOS?
Makes it a little more understandable.

Yes, I was flying LOS. This was the first flight with the Mobius on the canopy and I just wanted test it out to see how it behaves. It's hard to have a reliable test when the motor comes loose from the mount, lol.
