What can i say, this thing is f***ing awesome, it feels pretty good. the PID's are the one supplied by the maker, you can hear there is some oscillation under hard throttle and the yaw rate is a bit slow for me, but it pretty dam close.

I got another couple of flights in today. and have started the task of pid tuning, as i'm not planning on flying in angle or horizon mode i have assigned my flight mode switch to change profiles.

in this video i test the same pid values but with 2 different algorithms (pid controller 0 and 1)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8iFoNwBs-e8

I felt that pid 1 felt far more locked in. i have some more video of pid 1 flights uploading now i will add it when its finished.

I would appreciate any input from you guys

Nice Dan :) Looking forward to trying the Flip32 and cleanflight to see the difference.

Thanks guys. It's not a new field Graham I have flown my 550 there lots it just looks different from the air. I thought that it was time to start flying with some obstacles I was getting too comfortable blasting up and down the football pitches.
Cleanflight is awesome lee. The pid 1 is a 32 bit rewrite of the baseflight algorithm it seems to feel more connected and locked than pid 0. I'm going to start a scratch tune on bank 3 with pid 1 tomorrow and also work on this tune in banks 1 and 2.

Nice flying Dan, I think it's about time you got in amongst those trees. :)
That will set the adrenaline going again. :)

I haven't flown mine on cleanflight yet apart from a quick LOS test to make sure it still worked.
I am waiting for a zero wind day to try autotune.
I may set the other profiles and manual tune it to see what works best.

Before I got to that site I was having a look for some where suitable with trees. I've found a couple of spots but they are for early morning post work flights in the summer.

Once I've got it tuned a bit better then I'm going to move on to some obstacles trees ect.

I want to try to concentrate on getting it tuned a bit better this Week.

went and tried to put a couple of packs through it this morning, ive been playing with the pids and got the roll and pitch axis feeling much more locked in than before, ive got some sort of wobble/bounce on the yaw axis. i was having so much fun but got a bit cocky and put it in, no damage or so i thought. I picked it up checked the blades and motors and took off again as it turned out the cable tie that secured the recording camera got damaged and let out in flight falling into the props i will let you see the results for yourself.
